Is it better to have high speed or low timmings

I've never overclocked my ram always use the xmp profile till recently and was wondering if any the benefits of high speed over the timmings and what effects of either has on the systems performance

If you do some benchmarks, youll need both tight timings and as high as you can get your ram running, specially when you do cpu-benches like superpi and wprime, but running higher clocks is preferred.
Some insane tight timings and superhigh mhz is done with dry ice(dice) or liquid nitrogen(ln2) with crazy volts running through them.

It actually depends on your CPU

1155 onwards = MHz matters (bandwidth)

before 1155 so 1156 1366 etc the timings make a bigger difference (speed)
