totally agree with that Rastalovich. out with the old in with the new. TBH though its about time the dropped the price of the 775 Cpu's so they can clear the stock ready for the new core I5's

Ahhh but the new 45nm E6300 is quite a good clocker.....

By now they should have got the bugs out of the process and these EOL chips should be little crackers

and confuse the consumer even more by calling it i3.

This is almost as bad as the new E6300.

Is that what the deal is going to be ? i3=775 ?

If that's the case i3, giving that they've gone through the trouble of branding it, will still be made.

Doubly if this is true, I'd rather get an i3 mobo with sata3/USB3 in the future and drop the qx9650 in it.

Yeah, it's a good CPU, but having two different CPUs with the same name is stupid.

the new e6300 is comparatively nowhere near as good a clocker as the old e6300.

Yes it achieves higher clocks but from a higher initial clock.

I remember the day I hit 3.85ghz on a suicide run on my old 65nm e6300. All at 1.51vcore too.

Looks at the 45nm E6400 mmmm now that chip can clock and then some.:yumyum:

This actually sounds like a pretty good way to utilise surplus Wolfdales and a way to try and compete with the AMD Athlon II X2 and Phenom II X2 CPU's in terms of price. I would hope however that the E6500 appears for nearer £70-80 than £80-100.
