Hi Just needs some advice on the Evo 33. Is it any good in O/cing a 146 on the DFI Lanparty UT NF4 Ultra-D.

If not, I will appreciate any other suggestions for a heat sink on a mid range budget.

Thanks

Can't say i've heard any experiences of that heatsink to be honest.

If you have a reasonable budget, take a look at the Thermalrite XP90 / XP90-C / XP-120 lineup of heatsinks.

They don't come with a fan, but then that allows you to select a fan which best suits your noise:performance requirements :)

dont do what i did, i had one, overclocked my 3200+ venice to 2.8ghz which i knew it could do on a xp-90 and i burnt it out, kaaa boom they are for stock speeds only dont get one, they look, big, and impressive but still, get a xp-90c

Also check out the Thermaltake Big Typhoon... People are getting even better results with those than with the Thermalright lineup after a good lapping session.

Thermalright has a new one out too... The highrise I think it's called? I haven't looked to much in to it but it looks like u can put a fan on both sides of it it in push/pull which would definately maximize the cooling potential.

I've got an Evo33, and have a mild OC, which it cools fine. Haven't tried it any higher though, so not sure how it would cope when the CPU is packing serious heat.

There not a massive block of copper, which for air cooling is what you really need :D.

Good value however, and for a small OC, or to replace a stock cooler, there a good choice.

Atm, I can vouch for the Thermaltake Big Typhoon. Right now it's running at 30*C load at 2.86 ghz outside of a case (I foresee, maybe 35*C inside of a case or so, hopefully less :D ) with Arctic Ceramique and a medium speed Panaflo and lapped. The stock fan really is near-silent and had the CPU at 35*C unlapped. It's running damn well :D

1 heatpipe and only a 80 mm fan , 43 DB @ full speed and not one bit of solid copper-- DONT BOTHER

for that price gat one of the previous suggestions

id recomend the evo as long as u change the horrendous fan it comes with i use a pair of coolermaster ones i get about 30 under load with the fans on 5v its almost silent not oc'ed though

I've got this- need to add another fan, but I've got my Opteron 146 @ 2.8GHz running around 35°C normal, 50°C under major load with the fan it comes with. Weighs a ton though :)
