Is 2007 just the worst year for Intel hardware breaking??

I have a theory that 2007 is the year that the overclocking gods are punishing us all for sins. I've managed to break so much in the past 3 months, I think I'm gonna cry now!

Asus P5B = Did that stupid fans spin up but nothing else rubbish. Nothing would get it working ever again.

Asus Striker = Same as above.

OCZ FlexXlc = One of the above boards managed to fry one stick of it.

Super Talent = Yet again one of the above boards managed to partially kill both dimms.

ATI X1900XT = Just decided to die one day

DFI RD600 = Dimm slots 1&2 died last night just because I bumped the CPU Vcore up to 1.55v (WTF!!!!)

And also this year I've heard Fragtek get thru about 3 motherboards, Llwyd get put out of action because his asus board broke and Ham have all his components fried.

Anyone else want to add anything to the crappiest year so far? :(

Digg it!

Man that isn't good, I am safe so far. /me goes and sacrafices anything he can find jk Any chance of repairs guys?

I've been lucky-ish this year, end of '06 the p5b-d died, so far it is looking like the pc8500 dominator ram is shot... I'll have to try RMA it somehow, although it wasn't bought in this country...

Jim - I PM'd you about the invoice matey - hopefully it won't ba a horrible ordeal getting a replacement

Yea, unfortunately the ones you listed are the best performers so we're kinda stuck with them

And now that I want to RMA my P5Bd, ST are out of stock :(

Personally I think there should be a big recall on Asus P5B boards. Just by the number of people on this forum alone that have had problems with P5B's it's clear to see that this isn't just coincidence.

Certain retailers I've been speaking to have been saying that the P5B is by far the most return board that they've ever stocked and it seems really unfair that people are having to put up with lengthy delays when getting their board's RMA'd.

Was your board also having the 'fans come on but no display' problem mate?

Sure was. I thought I'd actually done something to it when I changed NB heatsinks for the Noctua NC-U6 review... But apparently, I hadn't. I had also just taken the factory heatsink off my 8800 too and put it under water. Thought I'd killed it rofl. My new P5B Deluxe is a rev 2.0 and it's a heap better.

Hmm, haven't had anything die yet, but my video card I'm pretty sure is starting to spaz. Random restarts, temporary fan death (cured by a simple power down, but comes back every now and then), inability to get display if ambient is under 60F... <sighs> Hopefully when my new cooler gets in I'll be able to slap in my 7800GT and RMA the sucker (the 6800GT)

I've never had a board die in a while.

EXCEPT, when I was first building my comy, I ordered an Asus P5D or something like that, got 3 boards and ALL 3 died after restarting computer! Ever since switching to the ECS board everything has been good!

*knocks on wood**tribute to OC/computer god*:worship: :worship: :worship: :worship:

Not had anything die on me this year, been pretty lucky overall tbh not had many problems. Probably cause I give the overclocking gods all the voltage they want!

I'm lucky.. *knock on wood.*

My Dad's P5B has been holding up just great OC'ed and he's had it for about 4 months or so.
