Is 100mhz really worth it

My 3700x is 100% stable at 4.2ghz at 1.26 volt and i can get 4.3ghz at 1.40 volt stable my question is will there be any really world fps/gaming benefit with a extra 100mhz

Yeah agree with above, 4.3Ghz is only 2.4% higher than 4.2Ghz so in real terms you'd probably get like 1% gains in particularly CPU limit gaming scenarios.

Bench it and find out?

Like take your favourite game and bench it and see?

It just depends. Are you running 1080p? If so give it a try. I know it's a tiny percentage but it might matter in your 1% lows or min FPS?

You'd really have to be CPU-limited for that to make any difference, and I'd guess that difference would not be noticeable to the eye.

4.2GHz all-core is decent. An extra 100MHz is only 2.38% higher. It's barely worth considering really. Marginal gains at much higher voltages.

I'd just save the 4.3GHz BIOS settings and bust it out if you want to get a higher benchmark score or something.

I know with my i7-6800K, I can easily get it to 4.3 instead of its daily 4.0, but in that case the difference is 7.5%, which is actually pretty decent in CPU-bound scenarios.

For 100MHz, it's not worth it in the world of 4+GHz. Save on the power consumption, heat output and put less stress on your CPU and motherboard. 4.2GHz seems to be an ideal place on the performance/voltage curve for you.

i am not going to 4.3 ghz , i was just try to say 4.2 at 1.v26 volts is good for a 3700x i think

Yes i am running a 1080p at the min moving to 1440p 144hz

What you need to keep in mind with Ryzen 3rd gen, which was also confirmed by one of AMD's engineers I believe, is that Ryzen CPUs use a very high voltage range out of the box. This is normal due to how the architecture etc works. Since Ryzen CPUs don't work the same way as traditional CPUs in that aspect.
