Right, for xmas, i am receving an ipod touch, 8Gb, but i hate iTunes with a passion, it is the most...disgusting piece of software i have ever had the misfortune of using, i dont see how ANYONE could like it, but anyway, enough hatred:p

point is, i want to avoid using it at all costs, in either windows XP or in linux ubuntu, i dont mind, but i have less music for the latter due to my network not being upto scratch...

sugestions please? :)

i know amarok on linux...should...do...it.... i think

and i *think* winamp does it for windows...

but...even if its just confirmation, then please help :)

I use ephpod, but it may not support your generation of ipod.

Redhat is or produces software to allow drag & drop, but you have to buy it

i think its ok, i only ever use it to update my ipod. I still use good old winamp to play everything on my pc.

Itunes is a beefy program.. that thinks it has the right to run in the background all the time.

Hate it.

Winamp FTW! :D

i heard there is a plugin you can get somwhere that will make WMP11 work with an ipod....

anyone know anything bout it?

been googling, but nothing so far..

When I used to own an Ipod I used EPHPod since I couldnt stand Itunes either.

Dont use any though now though, Sony Walkman Phone FTW!

I'm getting an iPod for Christmas so I decided to have a play around :)

iTunes isn't actually that bad I've found!

Then again, I do play my music on random, so don't often have to use it, it sits in the toolbar. I have found the search is faster and easier to use for some reason though...

The only big problem I have/had is the fact that when I put my mouse over the mini toolbar for WMP, the song playing shows, but in iTunes I have to click a button and read some dodgy grey text among other text. So I installed FoxyTunes to Firefox and that does it great, and I'm going to pick up an LCD/VFD sometime anyway so that should sort out that :)

I prefer a music player that I can copy music files from something as simple as an explorer window. Drag`n`drop. Don`t need anything else.

WMP plays music, again, don`t need anything else.

Although in Vista it wants to be too much, maybe mp6.4 ftw or something lol.
