iPhone 5 - Owners Club

Gorilla glass is just a marketing gimmick. It does still scratch and will break if dropped from a few feet, just like all the other phones that are not using "Gorilla" glass.

My upgrade is coming up soon but I for one will not be paying double what I should be for an iProduct. Maps, build quality, irreplaceable battery (without voiding warranty etc) and iTunes is enough reason for me to avoid it :P

+1

My HTC Incredible is also, after being drown, ran over (By my 2002 F-350) and dropped hundreds of times by small children I hand it to; to keep them from annoying me... I think I got a fluke one tho... But it still goes strong.

Identifying with what phone you own... pathetic. I am sick and tired of this Apple vs. Samsung shit. Why can't people just accept that I, or any other iPhone owner, prefer the iPhone over Android devices? Ofcourse this also applies to anyone who prefers an Android device over an iPhone.

I'll buy one in November I think.

Its probably because it is quite a personal choice - aesthetics are a big part along with what people look for.

Its probably a lot to do with the majority of apple fans having no right or reason when it comes to other products other than getting other people to see you sporting the latest iProduct which is generally double the price to its similar specced competition.

It really doesn't scratch though, you can key it to your hearts content without it scratching. also it is rather drop resestant compared to standard glass.

Ive never really dropped my s2, but I haven't found the glass to be particularly special. I assure you if I keyed it to my hearts content it would be noticeable :p

Anyway we are going off topic

Of course, for all its magical properties, a quick scan of the Internet will reveal that Gorilla Glass does fail, sometimes spectacularly so. It breaks when phones are dropped, it spiders if they bend, it cracks when they’re sat on. Gorilla Glass is, after all, glass. Which is why a small team at Corning spends a good portion of the day smashing the hell out of the stuff
^^I would love that job:lol:

Good article about Gorilla glass:

I was nearly about to get the iphone 5 but decided to stick the 4s due to a few reasons. One was the removal of Google Maps, the new Maps from apple has a few issues such as landmarks in wrong places and mis-leading directions, i did use google maps alot and found it great.

Second is the fact that some phone are coming with scratches out of the box, on the band around the phone and also on the aluminium back. Its not a big issue to some but for many it is as spending so much on a phone you'd expect quality and clean product.

3rd issue, has been mentioned and that is the small light bleed at the top, near power button.

When i used the phone at the apple store, it was great but these few issues are putting my off and this is coming from a huge Apple fan.

The 4 had a few problems but were fixed in the 4s, which i have not had a single issue with, its perfect so i'm going to wait for the next one, yes its a long wait but it gives Apple time to sort it out.

My opion is to wait for the 'S' versions of the phone so problems can be ironed out.

I upgraded from the 4S and love it. Great phone. The larger screen really makes a difference. I've had it a week, got it on launch day through online pre-order.

Mines been perfect, no scuffs or scratches. The maps app sucks but you can still just use Google Maps from inside the safari browser and Google have a perfect interface for it on the iPhone, you can even add it to your home screen like its an app and when you do that the browser menu bars are gone and it works just like the old google maps did for the most part, it even supports locating you using GPS just like the native app did.

The only thing I'm missing right now is a dock, Apple have chosen not to produce one which pisses me off to no end as I now have to wait for a cheap imitation of Apples older docks which will no doubt be of a poorer overall build quality and take ages to become available.

Their newer stuff isnt the best, I still have a 1st gen 8GB touch that is still going strong, but I think after that they prettied their gear up too much.

Without sounding biased, you can always count on Apple to upsell stuff.

Can't believe all the old peripherals are now worthless.

You guys and your IPhone's and S3's etc... I'm still rocking my K800i :yelrotflmao:
