Hello everyone

Im new to the forum!

kempez815 told me to register as this is the place for advice about all things to do with OC'ing

Well Im 19 years old and a student studying International Relations :o

Been pc modding for about 3 years now, but in that time been concentrating on modding the case rather than extreme performance of the hardware. Now Im looking into Overclocking the new hardware Ive purchased. Also to gain new experience on how to do it for the future.

My Hardware

AMD 64 3700+ Clawhammer

DFI Lan Party 250GB NF 3

XFX Geforce 6800gt

Maxtor 200GB SATA

Maxtor 60GB IDE

Ultra X connect 500w PSU

AKASA Evo 33 Heatsink

Geil PC3200 2X512mb Value RAM

At the moment Im planning on buying some new ram, (thanks to kempez815 on his advice ) I think im going to purchase OCZ PC3200 2x512mb Platinium Revision 2 RAM . Also Ive ordered a artic cooler for my xfx 6800gt.

Well I look forward to gaining some new knowledge off you guys and future posts.

Nice system there, similar to mine cept you have a better proccy and vid card :). Same mobo, great mobo isn't it?

Kempez, is that TCCD Ram? If so, why not reccomend G.Skill LE's? They are KNOWN to perform better, and tehre's proof. (|3ourne has proven it cuz I know he's gone over this with fraggle)

heheheh, he mentioned about g.skill but they are out of my price range. I have about £150-160max to spend on new ram
 
They're out of his price-range Nick :(

I said to get them but he can't afford them. The Rev 2 is dirt cheap - like £136 - that's the best choice apart from OCZ Gold :D

You have to be POSITIVE that you're getting an old batch of Rev 2 for it to be worth it! All of the new Rev 2 has TCC5 which I guess only clocks into the 270's or something from what I've heard.
 
Oh really? I thought TCC5 was just as good as TCCD. I vaguely remember someone saying over @ SX TCC5 is rebranded TCCD? :confused:

From what Bourne told me TCC5 is complete shit compared to the TCCD.
 
TCC5 performs comparitivly compared to TCCD.

BUT it is not as good at the high FSB's that TCCD can reach. Whereas TCCD can get 300+, TCC5 just doesn't cut it that high. Damn you OCZ :mad:
