guys, i'm gobsmacked...

How can my internet suddely gone so slow ? youtube takes forever, can't play online, downloads aren't going quick eighter..

I've got 40mb/s dl/4mb/s ul internet, but because of an old router speedtest says i'm limited to 13mb/s. which is ok i guess...

How can everything be so slow if speedtest says it's ok ? i got another pc with lan connection to that router and get 39.7 mb/s.

The problem occured this week and i haven't done any hardware changes.

Drivers are up to date aswell..

Please help me out here as it's very very annoying

it's peak internet time from 1600-2000hrs

kids doing homework

people getting home and checking stuff

etc

do a speedtest now and then do one after 2200hrs and watch the difference

microsoft security essentials (MSE) is free for legit versions (sp1) on win7

i use nod32 business edition - it is NOT free - but is considered one of the best

is it an nvidia chipset?

have you installed the nvidia ethernet drivers? it will then show up in the nvidia control panel

i had the same problem with my old M4N82 deluxe - without the drivers installed i was getting 25% throughput

nope, no nvidia chip, i'm gonna try pulling the wifi card out now, maybe an oldskool solution but maybe it works

done trying, still the same, didn't have a single virus/ malware after 9 months of downloading stuff without protection

hope the same goes for kids

Chuck a LAN card in it?

Try a different port on the router or a different LAN cable?

how fast can you transfer a file from the other PC to your PC?

Not using the internet will determine if it is the internet or a local problem.
