Intels Next Gen - Extreme Edition Goes Quad Core

Intel are lining up AMD in their sights.

Dual core? Nah. Dual Core with HT (4 logical processors)? nah

Proper Quad Core: yes please!

Its a big brave move from the Big Blue and I wonder if its really needed or used. But Intel are obviously hoping to beat AMD to some performance crowns and you have to wonder if this beast will do it.

65nm, Qaud Core and a higher FSB will mean a big boost in speed and especially in multi-threaded applications.

We will wait and see what happens

Wonder if it will still support HT...

I pwned Sneaky's 955XE in dual SP1M runs, then we tried a quad run and he straight ganked me... He completed all 4 runs in 39 seconds whilst my Athlon took 59 seconds.

Now, if these new quads have HT then that's some uber shit.... 8 SP1M instances completed in a timely fashion, w00t! hehe
