Intel's New chips look impressive

Intel's new chips shown off look impressive. Intel is going for lower power consumption, is cutting HT, and have up to 10x less power. Desktop chip Conroe (no more Netburst) will be 65W, and the laptop chip Merom with 5W, server chip Woodcrest to use 80W. etc. Intel says on electrical cost savings alone, PC users will save $1 billion per year for every 100M computers. They also claim 5 times more performance per watt on the Conroe! Now, this sounds quite impressive to me, how about you guys? Intel may finally be coming out with a chip that will top AMDs!

I do miss my Intel rig - i hope they will come out with something to stand up to AMD so i can have a good reason to give them a try again

And if what they say about the power consumption is true, hopefully that will bring to an end the 50oc load on watercooling situation i had with them in the past!

i think i would still stick with amd but if intel makes very great cpus that would make the cpu market more compatitive and pricves are reduced aswell

Intel has always been the best at mobile cpu's......but I still wonder if they can top AMD in overall performance

I have to argue there.

For a long time the Pentium 4C pwnz0red the Athlon XP's in most stuffs.

EDIT: Unless you were l337 and OC/ed the balls off your AXP.
