Intel's due to release "Tiger Lake client" processors this summer

Hold up...

So they release the 10xxx series shortly, along with a new mobo. And now you mentioned 10nm CPUs this summer?

I'm confused here. 10xxx is still 14nm right? im a little out of the loop with CPU these days.

Tiger Lake will be exclusive to mobile, just like Ice Lake. Intel has made the 10th generation using both 10nm and 14nm processors. Most of these processors are 14nm.

If it's Comet Lake, it's 14nm.

If its Ice Lake or Tiger Lake, it's 10nm and will feature Intel's new Gen11 or XE integrated graphics.

Intel's marketing is super confusing.

Thanks for clearing it up. Now im on the same page.. or a few behind at least. :)

Overpriced, under performing.

Sry Intel. As much as I hate to say this...AMD has whooped your butt and it appears that it will continue to do so with little to no effort.

Intel's processor line-up is going to get soooo damn confusing.

Hopefully they can squeeze 6 & 8 cores into Tiger-Lake, otherwise what would be the point?

This is exactly why I can't keep up with anything they release anymore. Used to be so simple

Yeah, Intel's processor generations used to all be using the same nodes and architectures. That's now changed.

Intel's 10nm isn't good enough to replace their entire product line, so they are mixing in improved 14nm silicon and newer 10nm silicon under the same 10th generation brand. It's really confusing.

When it comes to notebook graphics, it's a huge mess, as Gen 11 and newer graphics support VRR (variable refresh rates) and are much better at gaming, but the 10nm chips still use 9.5th gen graphics.

Intel needs to sort its branding out and get things back on the same page. Then again, AMD does this to an extent with its APUs.

It's complete mismanagement by Intel. Just trying to stay in the news to shout out AMD.

AMD isn't doing as great as you mentioned for Apu but it's not as many SKUs so it's not as bad. Still inexcusable.

I reckon AMD have seriously held back on APU tech because of their deals with Sony and M$. Years ago they promised very powerful APUs. Then all of a sudden that died on its ass for no reason at all and they're still weak.

TBH? I doubt they have any reason to push that tech much now with their sales of console APUs to Sony and M$. They'll make far more money out of that (and it's constant) than making high end APUs. It's a shame, but then that is what happens when you decide on steady money.

If you think about what they could cram onto a chip the size of Threadripper? yeah, something pretty sick.

They dropped it because it's not very profitable. AMD has time and time again said they want to raise their ASP (average selling price) and a $120 APU is not going to help them. They need expensive products to do that. A higher margin is what investors want.
