Ouch! Knew it would happen though with C2D so strong and AMD not having much of an answer at the moment
makes me want to buy a opteron just to help them out.

I wonder if AMD (and it`s subsiduries/partners) are doing as badly as a collective concern. I know peoples have been w8ing freakin ages for the ATi cards, time will tell I guess.
what needs to happen, is AMD need to half there prices again, then shove there barcelona and R600 out at half the price of the Nvidia equivilant, even if they make a loss on each one, just to get interest back, then find a way to cut costs, so they can make a profit again
i mean, who among you, wouldnt buy a R600 for 100 quid, or a barcelona for like 200/300 compared with intel and Nvidia's prices...

on the other hand, they need to pair up with someone like VIA or SIS and get there own format out maybe?

Well for a start AMD/ATI are never going to pair with VIA or SIS as they now have a chipset development unit of their own so god knows that you were on about there.
r600 for £100? From a profit-based company? Once again u r joking right? Not gonna happen, same goes for the quad cores. AMD/ATI have spent far too much time and money to let their newest and greatest go at cost.
Swings and roundabouts..AMD will get more of a market share when their chips start performing better but I don't think they will be able to catch up intel. Hell I hope I eat my words in 5+ years time

That's not sound business sense, when you have shareholders to keep happy. Investors want to see profits in the short term. AMD aren't biding their time, they are in quite a nasty financial situation! Hence the reason they need to inject cash, and fast
