Will be looking forward to seeing these "new" Pentiums perform.. Could be interesting! :D

The 1st batch came out the start of this month actualy. Along with the release of the ridiculously cheap single core conroe-l celerons. (£27 for something that ocs too 3ghz with little effort at all!!)

Google the names of the CPUs for results. IIrc theres teh 1.6 and 1.8 pentiums out, and the celeron 420, 430 and 440.

I saw a press release probably half a year ago that said they weren't dropping the pentium name, just rebadging it and using it for low level processors. I mean, why would they kill it? They've been selling them for years and people hear pentium and think 'fast.' Why not make them think the slow processors are fast? They'll eat 'em up. Most people still think Pentium 4 is fast.

I have a Pentium 4 630 HT in another PC and it's not really slow. It's a good processor imo.

no, I'm not saying it's junk or anything. I guess I didn't articulate myself well. Most people still think Pentium 4 is the top line and have no idea a new microarcitecture exists. Saying "Pentium" will ring faaar more bells than "Core 2." That's all I was trying to articulate. I have a media center with a Northwood 2.4 that is very responsive and suits my needs.
