Intel Stop ATI Bus License

Yep, name says all, Intel hasn't renewed ATI's bus license, so ATI won't be able to make chipsets for Intel in the future. This is going to be interesting because Intel holds a license with AMD inorder to produce 64 bit tech, and in light of the new merger between ATI and AMD, things are going to get interesting.

If true this is a stupid move by Intel. AMD will withdraw the 64bit licence and then Intel will have to use their own (which is awful)

So the chip wars continue under new rules. IMHO it'll mean the two companies go off in different directions (if AMD do withdraw the 64bit licence).

Interesting times!!! The mind boggles at what'll happen if AMD withdraw their license from Intel of the AMD64/ EM64T architecture. Intel are either just being reactionary...and stupid imho. Or they believe they have something better...which I doubt. Further, Intel licensed MMX and SSE to AMD; I wonder if that'll be gone too.
