Intel Skylake-X and Kaby Lake-X CPUs to launch on Intel's LGA 2066 socket

Skylake-X, I assume this is the new name for the Entusiast line? Anyway it feels odd Intel would add back in a 4 core version, unless it's a high clock CPU that caters directly to gamers.

So as soon as they release Broadwell E they announce its successor. Great. And another new socket, just what we all wanted.

Roll on Zen.

Brilliant, they have finally done it. Charging the 'extreme' lineup prices for a mainstream spec part! It will read something like 'when compared to the (then) $2000 10 core model, the 4 core model for $1750 is a downright steal!

Hehe.. This is why you only upgrade your Intel CPU every fourth year by now, else you might as well kick yourself in the balls and claim it didn't hurt :D

it will continue until AMD can actually compete in performance, sadly Zen is around i5 haswell in terms of performance

I'd like to know how you know that figure when no one outside of AMD has even seen Zen let alone test it..

And if you are right. It's not sad at all. It'll priced well. Instead of the insane ones Intel are now charging for

If it is around i5 Haswell performance then AMD will be 3 of Intels "Z" generations behind .

It would have to be priced extremely cheaply to be a good buy IF it does indeed have performance like that.

Personally I am really hoping Zen has performance close to or on par with Kabylake or even Skylake.

Skylake i5 performance is nothing to scoff at. That's not 3 gens behind. That's equal to there mainstream cpus, and barely behind Kabylake's 4C. Kabylake won't be as big of a step forward as Skylake was from Haswell. And it'll be priced much cheaper more than likely at the rate intel is going.

Ok, 3 of Intels tick or tock phases behind...

And I said Haswell, Not Skaylake.

i5 Skylake would be ok.

Doesn't change anything really. It's still not 3 ticks. Kabylake is preceded by Skylake. And still, that performance is still very good. They don't need to crush intel, no one can, they just need to have such great performance that consumers don't think the extra wad of cash intel want is worth spending for little benefit.

edit: i've been talking Skylake the whole time...

Congratulations, But my reply was for the Haswell that was being mentioned above.

No exact figures just estimations based on previous generations increments and the claim of 40% IPC above current.

I really like AMD and hope Zen is great like it was back in the 2500 days
