VR-Zone has got some exclusive details on Intel’s Upcoming Sandy Bridge-E Processors. According to them, Intel’s upcoming Sandy Bridge-E processors would ship without the Stock Intel CPU cooler.

Well these are high-end CPUs so anyone that does use a stock cooler with on should be shot.

The TDP of 130-180W is actually quite insane, as a reasonable amount of aftermarket coolers aren't capable of this. I guess this is the basis for the rumours that Intel and AMD are going to ship LCLC from either Asetek or CoolIt with their high end CPUs.

I hope that LCLC thing doesn't happen, would far rather have the option of getting my own cooler than paying a bit extra for something I'm inevitably going to replace. Ofc, if they give two options, one to buy the CPU without the LCLC and one to buy it with, then I'm cool for that.

I think the 22nm "Enthusiast" chips are going to be a lot more attractive (less heat etc)

yeah and if they include a liquid cooling system with it, It won't be very good performance wise I don' think.

if they are gonna dump huge amounts of heat, why bother including a cooler that cant do it? Good move by intel IMO as it saves them money, and HOPEFULLY they would pass that saving onto its customer base.

Shipping it with a "liquid cooler" could be the way to do it, but its gonna be garbage when Overclocked lets face it. I would much rather ship it with nothing and keep prices down.

Sandy-E chip buyers will already have a cooler they want to use, or a cooler they will buy with the chip. Intel is saying "here is the hardware, cool it how you see fit"

Yeah think we will need more and thicker rads to get a good overclock. This will also be bad for even top of the range air coolers.

Maybe not much headroom for air coolers?

The stock coolers Intel use probably isn't coping. Knowing people will buy after-market coolers anyway or because Intel doesn't want to dish out money on a good heatsink R&D, they'd rather sell it without one, which I don't mind seeing as stock coolers are garbage anyway.

The 1155s so far have been a good example of air coolers being good for decent overclocks but they had a low TDP and obviously were quad core. But with the 2011 being the "enthusiasts" option I do think you'll see air cooling stuggle once more, with water leading the way once again

This is only a prototype but i'm willing to put money on the final version being near identical to this.

this is just getting stupid now the D14 is acceptable but then The scythe sussannoo and the new noctuas i thought technology is getting smaller will be easier to get a full water loop than one of them

The one thing Noctua should have done is change the fan colour though

Yeh, I agree. BeQuiet fans are extremely quiet and perform very decently.

The sockets on the 2011 boards are massive as well though, they look like they can support the weight anyway.

Noctua are also making a new mounting bracket for these coolers, that it's self is massive as well and looks pretty solid and looks like it will take most of the weight.
