Intel Launches their 2nd Generation Xeon Scalable Lineup - Promises Up to 56 cores

Upto 8 sockets per machine? I guess if you can use over 400 fast cores for a workload that requires as much inter socket bandwidth as possible nothing would come close atm, maybe AMD could respond with Epyc2 systems beyond 2P. I guess since they're going to go for specific major datacentre customers & workloads with a lot of these SKUs they're going for as many niches as possible to try to keep it relevant post Zen2, since that is a pretty niche use case for x86 cores.

That smell ain't glue. It's the smell investor's make when a rival starts taking market share from their invested business. Sweat and poo.
8 packages of 56 cores and 128 threads? Does it come with its own nuclear power generator too? Bet the synthetic benchmarks would love this.
