Intel Kaby Lake i7 7700K benchmark leak

If these rurmors are right then it pretty much render the x99 platform useless for gaming, as even the 6700k was better as of general of the gaming library. Even the 1500€ cpu is not on par with the current 6700k. Imagine the new one with 15% increase...

Yes yes yesssss...... the x99 was not ment for only gaming i know, but all the enthusiasts gets the x99 platform. Even tom builds his bench machine around the x99.

Given that people who purchase the X99 platform as well as the unlocked CPUs would likely be overclocking them, I see no reason as to why it would create significant issues.

The gains for gaming are minimal at best if anyone has a decent OC already applied.

Just waiting for those igpus to get a crap load better so I can get a new HTPC. Hopefully Zen delivers that. Not holding out too much hope for the Intel igpu atm. Would need 2-3 years for them to become more competitive.

Exactly. The only CPUs that would need more than an OC to catch is up anything before Ivy Bridge from intel. Anything else is perfectly fine.
I you want better iGPU.. get an APU. They should be releasing BR and AM4 boars soon.

Really? You're cheering about the fact than an upcoming platform is "better" for gaming than an over 2 years old platform meant for workstation use cases? Wow.

In their defense, there a quite a few who invest in the X99 platform and use it for gaming too.

Even Intel markets it to "extreme gamers"

For me personally its used for gaming more than anything and even thats rare given how busy life is these days.

X99 has been a goal for me for a long time. I haven't quite been able to get everything together for one.
But now, all of a sudden, the planets have aligned and I have the parts for two of them. (i7-6800K & i7-6850K)
These will be daily drivers and gamers.
With these two X99 PCs, I think that I'll be good to go for a long time to come.
