INTEL Identifies SANDY BRIDGE Chipset Design Error

thank god i still havent gotten my pc yet, hopefully the recall goes smoothly and manufacturers replace mobos quick and clean.

so are no mobos gonna be on sale till the end of february?

Well, I'll just patiently wait an announcement from scan and get whatever I need replaced. No bother, but it sucks for the company.

Just moved my SSD & HDD to the 6 GB/s ports. Meh. That GFX card is *REALLY* annoying if you're too lazy to remove it.

For fun I'm leaving the Bluray drive on a 3 GB/s port, see what happens.

I just hope they'll refund or send a replacement board without me having to disassemble and send it back to them. That would be mega-annoying.

Early-adoptor crap I guess, or just my luck in general :>

It'll be mighty dangerous to buy such a board on Ebay in the next months, depending on how much 'publicity' this issue will get

This sucks big time! Ive just bought an 1155 rig aswell.... better change those SATA's around... oh dear! And yes i will also probably be in that 5% knowing me!

I don't believe in that 5%, it'll probably be much higher than that. Remember Microsoft denying the RROD problem (deny=0%) ?

Looks like its gonna be totally fixed by end of april and manufacturers are gonna replace (or rather 'assist' them to fix it) mobos with the help of intel.

Youll probly have to send back the board theyre just gonna replace the chip and send it back to you.

It'll probably cost more to replace the chip then to manufacturer and recycle components off the old MB...

I also am not going to wait around to get my FAULTY when sold motherboard to be replaced, it's law... I don't want a refund just a replacement board there and then.. Going through enough hassle having to remove all my components, buying CPU cleaning solution, microfibre lint free cloths and the time involved to replace everything back to how it was... I feel REALLY sorry for the people with hard to install/remove watercooling systems!!

Well 1090t it is, it will have enough power to play games when overclocked and it is cheaper. (with 890fx-gd70)

Damn I ordered a SB bundle from aria recently stuck in 2 minds on whether to cancel it, also I don't have a pc capable of playing pc games atm and don't wanna risk a problem in the future (although aria stated if there where any problems that they'd help in the forum). I'm rather dissapointed considering I wasn't even planning on going intel but thought why not cus maybe I'll be wanting to do a bit more than gaming in the future, and now I'm very confused.

edit: So when I get it just don't put hdd in the certain sata ports and just wait for the replacement mobo? (I kinda want SB NOW

Ahh well cancelled order

yea it sucks this had to happen around the time i was getting my pc.... i dont wanna get a 1366 or AM3 system... guess imma have to wait....again

Funny, Since I moved my SDD and HDD to the 6G ports my system seems to be more responsive and less 'hanging' from time to time.

So somebody made a mistake, it's frustrating but OK it happens...

The thing that's starting to get more annoying is how it's been handled since this came out. I haven't heard anything from Gigabyte, Aria or Intel. I don't know if my motherboard is in this 5% or not. I don't know what I'm meant to do about it, who to contact, what will happen, how long it will take. Nothing.

Yes, it's only been a few days but you'd think with such a big screw-up they'd be pulling out all the stops to lessen the damage.

You guys are insane to cancel you orders because of that...

Just plug the damn additional Data disks and DVD drives in the Sata 2 ports and forget about it until you get the brand new MB ! What could go wrong ? loose performance on storage disks or DVD drive which I never use, I couldn't care less.

This is preventive action from Intel, most of us will probably never notify anything wrong.

So far I didn't see anyone getting any kind of problems related to SATA, even those crazy OCers who shoot 1.6v and even 1.7 in the CPU with PLL and all the overvoltage stuff.

Aahaha and you're just too lazy to dismount/mount your build

Cool story, bro.

Moved my already existing RAID 0 array from X48 to P55 a few months ago and the other day moved it from P55 to P67 and still haven't had to re setup the array.

Problem comes when I move it to my 6GB/s ports. They don't pick up the drives properly at all. Only picks up one drive in the array and doesn't even see the other drive.

Think there may be a fault on the 6GB/s ports so I have to use my normal ones. I aint using the Marvel controller.

Spose I'll just use it until they do a recall.

So im guessing they may come up with the option to send the board back to retailer, so they can repair... only problem is if this doesnt happen and it means a replacement board doesnt OEM windows tie to the motherboard? or atleast thats what i read somewhere as its limited to one PC... ??? im worried now although I dont think i will be needing more than two SATA's but was thinking about using my pc to create a small storage network with my laptop which meant i was going to put a third in.... :/ and i still need to swap em over to 6Gb/s oh well if that is the case i could always have my DVD drive through 3gb/s port as i only use it for installing disk based games/software anyway... the only problem with tha tho is when installing if it corrupts the install when the chipset starts to degrade :/

Sorry for such a long post, this problem has just got me abit annoyed as i dnt exactly want to have to spend money to get it fixed and it is my first build!
