Anyone tested the igpu with 720/1080p video files? any lagg or does it run it perfectly?. Im building a client build and i am wondering if the igpu would be enough, or if i need a low end hd descrete gpu also. Its not for gaming but probably will be used alot for office/multimedia.

Im pretty sure it will run with zero problems but doesnt hurt to ask. (I can test this myself but it it would take some time, so maybe this is quicker.)

I understand its pretty decent and when coupled with a discrete gpu can actually boost fps for gaming (I know thats not what ur using it for but it should help answer the question)

If it laggs then i cant do it... i saw a youtube video of it, running 1080p video and it seemed laggy(might be an issue with YT though)

Il give this thread 1h more and then il find it out for myslf ... that is if i find my cable

Here's link to a graphics hierarchy chart. My current HTPC is an E5300 with an nVidia 9300 chipset. It plays 1080p flawlessly, if you look at the chart the HD3000 ranks higher and will have no problems with 1080p.

This is also a good read the only thing it can't do is 23.976 fps playback. - http://www.anandtech.com/show/4083/the-sandy-bridge-review-intel-core-i7-2600k-i5-2500k-core-i3-2100-tested/7

Thanks. Il try this then, but im gonna test it when the build is done. Just to make sure everything is good.

My gf's father will get something nice under the christmas three this year :-)

Hes now using a pc from the stoneage.....

Have you considered an AMD APU? If you do not need tons of CPU power its a good option.

it really should, my buddy has a laptop with HD3000 graphics, and NO discrete gpu and i saw him play skyrim on it on medium settings, i don't think video will be problematic.

Well then an AMD APU is a terrible option.

Cpu vise yes, but the apu's do have nice igpu's. If i didnt already have cpu,mb and ram i would defenetly consider a liano.

Yeah ive seen many games being runed at low/med settings, so i was pretty sure it would be smoothly with HD movies. Will take a few runs when i got the system ready, just to make sure the quality is good.
