Intel DDR3 boards compatibility with Core 2 duo processor

x48 mainly some 780i boards had dd3 compatability too but the max fsb capable on them was 1333mhz for ram.. the x48 chipset allowed 1600mhz with an overclock though

dfi lanparty x48, evga 780i/790i, asus x48, 790i and i think p45 had both, Gigabyte had a few x48's and if i remember correctly msi had a wicked motherboard that done 1800mhz on ram just cant remember the model number..

the problem with it though you needed a core 2 8 series and above for ddr3 to work correctly.. i.e q8600 qx9650 core 2 duo 8400/8600 etc..

my old e6400 core 2 couldnt get ddr3 to work above 1066mhz.. my q6600 worked well at 1333, i did managed to get 1600mhz ram on my dfi lanparty but kept having issues because it would clock my q6600 above 3.6ghz.. which caused blue screens i ended up reducing the ram clock to 1333 to keep it stable..
