Does the Thermaltake Xpressar have the goods when it comes to taming overclocked Intel Core i7 processors? Thermaltake think so...

Check out the details in the news article

Skeptics aint gonna like this, but I see a future in things like this and compact cooling units.

Corps seem to be hell-bent on producing something that a more average user would consider installing.

Over the last year a good handful of ideas have reported to have been scrapped, but I tend to think they've more likely been shelved in the current climate.

Yes i agree I think this will be a bit of hit to be honest...think there will be more of these kind of units in a short time to come

I'd be very surprised if they sell enough to make it worth the cost.

Lets face the facts. Phase change cooling is incredibly enthusiast-focused, far more so than normal watercooling. Considering the fixed copper tubing imposes rather strict choices when it comes to motherboard and graphics card compatibility it's hardly "bringing phase to the masses" (I know they never said that, but thats what they are going for).

Theres also the fact of cost, have you see how much these cost? £500+ is just extortionate for a 10*C advantage over water, anyone who's serious about cooling would spend the same amount of cash on a proper unit.

Bottom line is, if OCZ couldn't make it work with the Cryo-Z, my expectations for Thermaltake (a company who isn't even taken seriously in the water cooling community) are LOW.

The problem with these will arise when people who don't know what they're doing start thinking 'Hahahah, I've got phase! Time for 1.9v and trying to break world records.'

These systems will fall FLAT on their face at anything over the tuned load. And not just get a little hotter but they will break and maybe even become extremely dangerous.
