Intel Core i5 2500k With Arctic Cooling Freezer Pro 7 Rev 2

How far do you think that i can overclock my 2500k. I have got it at 4ghz right now. I have got three 3 120mm fans running on 12v. Arctic cooling Freezer pro 7 Rev 2 is a budget cooler so i know i wont be able to o'c too far with it but i just want to get the most performance out of it without killing the processor. Again with all my threads any help will be with gratitude. I will test any o'c that i do with cpu-id and hw monitor along with the stress test prime-95.​

You'll be able to go to 4.5ghz easy with that cooler 2500k's don't run that hot anyway. Before I went with water I had a Gelid Tranquilo and at 4.8ghz it was in the mid 70's on avergage.

The recommended max temp for the 2500k is 73 degrees, so i would say just OC it to what ever your cpu can get to before making the temps go above 73 degrees.

You should be able to do 4.5GHz with aprox ~1,3V.

Aye depends on the CPU some are better than others, here are my results with 3 x 2500K, like the others have mentioned you should be fine for 4.5GHz.

The results below were using my MSI Z68A-GD65 (G3), will do a rerun using my Gigabyte Z77X-UD5H with the 2500K: Batch No: 3138A838 once I get my new rig up and running.

2500K: Batch No: 3138A838

4.9GHz = 1.408 load (prime95), 1.408v load (IBT 2.56) 1.424v idle. (Manual CPU Voltage = 1.43v BIOS)

4.9GHz = 1.400v load (prime95), 1.42v load (IBT 2.56), 1.01v to 1.06v idle. (Auto CPU Voltage)

4.8GHz = 1.336v load (prime95), 1.344v load (IBT 2.56) 1.352v idle. (Manual CPU Voltage = 1.36v BIOS)

4.7GHz = 1.296v load (prime95), 1.296v load (IBT 2.56) 1.312v idle. (Manual CPU Voltage = 1.32v BIOS)

4.6GHz = 1.384v load (prime95), 1.408v load (IBT 2.56) 1.01v to 1.06v idle. (Auto CPU Voltage)

4.6GHz = 1.280v load (prime95), 1.280v load (IBT 2.56) 1.296v idle. (Manual CPU Voltage = 1.30v BIOS)

2500K: Batch No: L104A429

4.6GHz = 1.336v load (prime95), 1.36v load (IBT 2.56), 1.00v to 1.05v idle. (Auto or Manual CPU Voltage) (Maximum Clock stable)

4.5GHz = 1.328v load (prime95, 1.352v load (IBT 2.56), 1.00v to 1.04v idle. (Auto or Manual CPU Voltage)

I also had a Batch No: L132B 2500K and could only clock that to 4.5GHz Maximum using 1.344v.

i have the worst 2500k made i think.. currently running a stress test on 1.356 vcore load at the moment. everything before this has failed :'(

My fucking mb is annoying and wont let me set the vcore and makes me set it in increments but when i do this even though i set it to go to 1.35v it goes to 1.4

I just installed the same mobo and received my i5 2500K yesterday, with my artic cooler 7 pr ac will I be able to keep this bad boy cool? I plan on just taking out my heatsink from a previous build and using it on my new build since I have heard that the stock fan that comes with it is garbage haha. What do you guys think?

MY M3A770DE does that to me too, so i just have to adjust the voltage in the bios accordingly to the increase in voltage under load!

Also bear in mind you are not using a board that is particularly brilliant for overclocking so you might not get as high an overclock as other people with your chip might get.
