Intel Coffee Lake CPU appears on SiSoftware Sandra

August, eh? I feel really sorry for Kaby Lake guys. Not that they have a 'bad' CPU or anything, and in fat they may not be feeling sorry for themselves and are quite contented, but I know if I had bought a 7600K or a 7700K six months ago, I'd be peeved right about now.
 
AMD really did stir the pot. Intel, and Nvidia are really annoying customers with rushed releases. Buy or not to buy...
 
Nice Mark! You could expand the article by including the CFL-H part entry I left in quick news last night (6/12, 9MB L3). Also, respectable rumor has it that CFL requires LGA 1151 v2 sockets, making it impossible for previous sockets to work with these CPUs.

I'll be happily picking up the 6/12 -S part and a new Strix/TUF Mark 2 board (haven't decided yet). Now bring on the leaks and database entries dear internet!
 
Definitely will be looking at the HT one for sure. Interesting that we haven't heard any rumours about new features on the possible Z370 chipset. August is only a couple of months away.

I wouldn't expect too many, realistically. Those new features present are probably rather unimportant.

Highly doubt it. Luckily you can turn everything off. I have done that the other day, wanted some nice stealth again and now I've got it. I'm likely even going to replace my front case fans (red LED by default) to no LED ones.

Naturally. Nothing do be done about it. I would have enjoyed popping it in my current board but it doesn't work like that with Intel - maybe for good reason, maybe for no real technical reason.

I just feel bad for them. Rushing for Ryzen... Struggling with Ryzen. Then preparing for TR. Also probably having no fun with the BIOS.
Then rushing for Intel... Getting everything done 3 months ahead. Finalize the BIOS way earlier. Then rush for CL, BIOS again, design, and certification
Seems a bad year for them. Those BIOS guys deserve a bonus

They do for sure! It's a horrible time to be an enigeer for board vendors. The job they're doing is pretty impressive all considered!!

Wondering about the clocks in the database; with this being an ES, does that also mean these clocks are set in stone or can they possibly still be changed?

Yeah, for the first time I am actually feeling it to be honest. Now that I heard about this and read your post.

It all depends on for me really, if there's a higher core counted CPU launching, that will have a rather low TDP, around Kaby Lakes 91W max, and also an mITX board.
Then I might consider it, otherwise I'll just stick with my 7700K, as my options are and will be limited due to the upcoming case I am getting.

But if not, then I'm not all that mad really. Just sucks that Intel are truly tacking a at it's customers and doesn't seem to give a flying f*ck about it either.

I believe to recall they'll be 95W, so around your desired 91W.
 
So MB manufacturers dislike having to sell new boards instead of consumers just getting a new CPU that fits their old MB???? :eek: I think you need to rethink you thoughts :)
Plot twist: It could actually be the MB manufacturers idea to make new sockets all the time. :cool:
