Inspiration with TinyTom's videos

Hi,

TinyTom uses a test bench for the rig in the videos on Youtube.

My current rig is in an ANTEC P183 case, it's used alot for gaming.

I currently run high-end reference NVIDIA cards, they are 480's. They can get noisy and need alot of cooling. Same for all the components need good cooling.

Custom coolers for these high-end cards are lovely, keeping the components alot cooler and running quieter, though they exhaust the heat inside the case, unlike the reference coolers.

I'd like a test bench with the motherboard flat so it can hold the big CPU cooler without me worrying and I'd like a complete copper heatsink, they're very heavy. And 2 custom cooled high-end graphics cards. All the heat will be well dispersed into the open air. The components will be cooler, the rig will be quieter.

I'd need a regular stock of air-in-a-can to keep it clean.

I don't think I'll mod my current rig to be on a bench and am very considerate for the bench idea for the next build

Do you consider doing this idea. Are you using a tower? Have you got a test bench? Are there issues an experienced user can warn?

Advice, suggestions, ideas please.

Thanks

Wouldnt use a test bench 24/7 tbh. Its just for benching or if you need to take it apart loads. My main rig is still in a case.

Jerome,

I used the Antec p193 for a while as my main rig case, then about a year ago switched to a test bench to hold my main rig.I think it's great and far better than a case, but i am not one for fancy lights and windows ect, I like to sleep at night seeing as this is my 24/7 system.I looked at them all and think the one i have is the best all round. The p193 i have was great case but i am not a fit and forget guy and was always in side adding hdd's or swapping ssd's so it became a problem. The temps are better also being out side the case, the only thing stopping cooler temps now is ambient air temp,Here's a link to the site to buy it from and also a review

I have a Corsair H50 fitted in the side in push pull config but i plan on swapping it out for a water cooled loop soon. Also for height spec's between shelves is a good amount,i have a antec cp850 in below with the hdd mounts underneath the top shelf and there plenty room left.

Finally if your planning on going with this version here's a tip, Dont screw in the motherboard rest's that come with the lit in to the top of the shelf, instead take your motherboard stand off screws from your case and screw them in instead. It secures the motherboard to the bench safely!.
