Input in a semi budget all round PC

If a small selection then an 4770 will easily handle everything. Ability to add a more beefy gpu down the road will benefit him in the long run.

Ok here is an updated spec variation whats your thoughts^_^

i7 4770s
CoolerMaster Hyper 212 Evo
Asus B85m-g
Kingston 8GB 1600MHz HyperX Blu (changed to this du to price and availability)
WD 2TB Black
SanDisk 32GB ReadyCache SSD (may try and talk them into a dedicated SSD)
LiteOn IHAS124-14 24x SATA Internal DVDRW Black (cheap and cheerful)
Fractal Design Core 1000 Mid-Tower Case
Corsair 430W Builder Series CX 80+ Bronze ATX Power Supply

And lastly Monitor

Acer S235HLB 23" (wouldnt mind some input on this as it was selected only on price it has intergrated speakers and it looks cool:rolleyes:)

That looks like a good spec sheet! Will be plenty fast for his needs and also run cool and mostly quiet :)

Not a great fan of Acer products personally. I'd swap it back for the Asus in the OP. Integrated speakers tend to suck anyway (which is not what you want when you're remotely serious about editing).

Ok cool will put this to my mate with a monitor adjustment and see what he thinks.

-------------

23" AOC I2369VM IPS Full HD Monitor ? :)

From what I've heard, AOC monitors have pretty good colour reproduction but quite terrible response times. Seems alright for someone that wants to do editing, but if the budget allows for it, I'd prefer to go with a more 'premium' brand like Samsung, Dell or Asus.

Is that for all monitors or select few? I have seen plenty rated at less than 7ms.

I've seen a few reviews where they actually tested the response time of an AOC monitor that was rated at 5 ms (or something like that) and the test showed that the actual response time was somewhere around 22 ms.

I think this is one of those things where each manu has its own way of measuring...
