I'm so close to giving up PC's right now...

I RMA'd some Corsair Dominators some time ago.

The replacements arrived today. Sweet. I'll test them to see if all is cosher and sell them on... Boot up, set everything at default bar 2.25v, 266fsb = 1066 on the ram, 5-5-5-15.

Boot up, load orthos, ram test - runs for a while. Great. They seem fine.

Staying at the same volts (with the dominator fans on) i knock cas from 5 to 4 in the bios.

Thats it.

Boot up. Load memtest. All hell breaks loose. This is the exact thing that happened last time. Error city.

Turn off rig. Reset cmos.

Swap sticks for my cellshocks.

Boot up - BSOD.

Try again, hangs.

What gives? Lately my OC's havent been 'sticking' as much.

To top it off my case is on hold at Kustoms cos if space issue with the pa rad, my other case is half done and a complete waste of cash, I needlessly bought a beefy psu and now have a spare just kicking about, i have a plet kit sat doing nothing... The g0 is hype. 3.5ghz is crap.

I feel like smashing the crap out of everything. My gf has just arrived, im off out for a meal.

Arrrrrgfh.

Buying a new mobo tomoz, sending the q6600 back.

In situations like this only one thing has ever worked for me......sell everything (including the girlfriend) and start again.

Corsair...forget about it (get a brand that OC3D likes), Q6600..c'mon you are a speed freak - it shudda been 6850 from the start, Motherboard...Blitz, IP35, P5K.

Just had a little look around on a few other forums and alot of people are saying they can't get anywhere over 3.1-3.5Ghz with Quads... unless they are on p35 boards.

might be worth trying it on a new mobo before returning it?

Mr. Smith I know exactly how you feel, my e6600 was shipped to Intel yesterday and I won't get it until next week. All this after upgrading from Socket A, doh :( Except I've moved past

ed off, onto I don't even care.

welcome to my world, i break things left right and center, ask davos, xms, kempez, ...lol, i'm the ultimate destoryer of hardware, they should send review samples to me for endurance testing :p

Send everything back and start over :| It'll take to long to trouble shoot this stuff :\

Go for Q6600 and a P5K with some nice Super Talent low cost ram :D

PS: I feel for you :( You have too many PC issues lately :|

There seems to be a broad range of G0's around. Some are average, some are poor and some are very good indeed.

Guess it all comes back to steppings. I've been reading the G0 overclocking thread over at extreme overclocking, and they have had mixed results too

Right then, the misses er, calmed me down.

Cellshocks are in, we have power, memtest = so far so good.

Corsair - guess i'll test again tomorrow.

Commando - think something is not right here (i think)

q6600 - refund. 3.5/6 isn't what I got this for.

Tomorrow - purchase pk5/e6850 from st/tek/komplett.

See what Kustom have come up with re my case ordered lili 101a - I saw this http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?t=154372 thread where a guy uses the tiny PCA05 with a triple radiator.

I know he uses the BI with normal fans with a total depth of no more than 50mm, where as I already own the pa120.3 with delta fans = a depth of just under 100mm.

I looked around and thought a slightly larger case could fulfil my requirements of a small case with everything internally. It seems I overlooked a few things.

Asus commando (changing this for a p35 based mobo)

Q6600 G0 (cooled with swifty apogee) - e6850

Cellshock with airflow fans

8800 GTS – located in the x16 pci-e slot closest to CPU, will be watercooled with swifty mcw60)

Xfi xtreme – requires PCI slot, currently the SB has a large aftermarket heatsink approx 40mm high, for this reason one PCI slot in unusable forcing me to use the outermost PCI slot, the one by the edge of the mobo. Heatsink will not come off without damaging SB.

Superflower Fan controller – requires 5 ¼” bay

XSPC bay reservoir - requires 5 ¼” bay – I could buy another res if that could be housed internally, neatly which would reduce need for 3 bays to 2. Micro res? EK Eddie multi… I’d rather keep what I have…

DVD writer - requires 5 ¼” bay

PCP&P 750w silencer.

PA120.3 with delta fans = 100mm depth. Can be mounted roof or floor – must be internal.

Ultimately I’m after a small, W/C case like the one linked. All internal. CPU/GPU are in the loop. I believe the rad will use 2 drive bays, I need a further 3 if I keep my drive bay res bringing the number of drive bays to 5. If I switch to an alternative res – I require 4 drive bays.

Could the PC-7 work?

Others:

V600?

G50?

PC-A16A?

V1000B plus – looks promising

There is a bit of copy&paste from my email to them...
