Hey folks,

Long time no see!!

First of all, I'm really sorry for kind of just vanishing without any real notification or explanation. That was pretty crappy of me but I am however going to be throwing myself back into things pretty soon.

I actually left most of the techy hobbies because I went back to school; I'm just completing a foundation year and will be going on to big boy University this September! Unfortunately it took massive cuts and budgeting to get through the year and a bit.

Now for the good news, my partner and I are moving house from a studio apartment to a big house and I'll have a whole room for my hobbies again. This means space for rigs! And being a student again, I'd be crazy if I didn't foolishly spend some of my student finance on something overpowered and dedicated to Folding!

Moving on..

How is everyone? What's going on with the Team nowadays?
 
Cheers folks! I'm pretty excited about getting back into it!

How are things now? Is the client any more mature than last year? What's the best PPD monsters now? I can only assume it's still BigAdv and GPU?

Big-adv will be discontinued this year,and you need 24cores/threads on Linux install to get them.
Gpu folding is the game now.Amd 290x gpu`s will give you 180-240k ppd depending on WU and oc.Best performance/cost are hd7950/70 and R9-280x.Nvidia gtx760-770-780-780ti will also be good performers too.
F@H install is pretty easy now.. http://folding.stanford.edu/home/ ^_^

Thanks man, I'll get looking for some GPUs! Is BigAdv totally going or just for 24 Cores/Thread going forward?

Don't forget the 750ti with its magical power sipping 60w...just a pity all the damn core 17 wu's have gone MIA otherwise it can easy match a 660ti / 760 and sometimes beat them ppd wise.
 
Hey Steve! It's good to be back! I won't be folding for a teeny while yet but as soon as I'm moved (about 6 weeks) I'll be cracking out the rigs again (had the 3 i7 970s to start with) and will get myself a proper rack setup. :D

Iirc you and I are the only original members of Redline 3D that are still around, except for maybe QD

Only 4 or 5 of us original members of Redline Redux are still here.

But it is a great team we have here thanks to you for bringing us malcontents to OC3D and TTL for putting up with us:lol: Look what we have grown into:cool:

Hehe, it's really uplifting to see things still rolling so well even with the changes over the years! :)

EDIT: Maaan, I haven't spoken to QD in years now!! I might have to see if I can track him down! I remember he used to contribute back when we splintered from FM and setup home at our own forum but I can't remember what he ended up doing.

House, family, lawn, work; living the dream! Busy as hell, but going good. Sounds like everything is going good on your end. What are you going to school for? It's really good to see you back here. :cool:
