IDE to USB?

So I got this old 2001 HDD I wanna get some crap off of, and while my PC does have an IDE port, it would be very...awkward to use it. So I was looking if they had IDE to USB adapters...shocker, they do. However, these damn things are expensive!

20$ for a "OK" one by Amazon. Any suggestions?

This seems highly reviewed...but man...that price.

I was reading that since my HDD is a Desktop HDD, the adapter needs to be "Powered"

It's not powered - it won't work for my HDD.

Bought the one I linked to. The more I looked around, the cheaper ones I found had some scary stories. Save 5$, get this one for 12$, but there was TWO reviews, months apart, that the damn thing set itself on fire! Blew out their computers PSU! Now, just one, could happen, two? Sounds fishy...I mean even of the chance is 0.01%, not taking that to save 5$. I'll go with the 1 that is 5$ more and 4.5 Stars / 800 good reviews, and the best "negative" review simply states the cord is to short.

Didn't wanna pay that, but ah, nothing I can do.

It's not. That one is on Amazon for 11-12$ and it's the one that people said started fires.

That said - even if I did buy that one, it estimates it'd be here June 24th - over a month to get here. =/
