Icy Box IB-110StUS2-b SATA docking station - speed problem

Hi,

I'm having issues regarding speed reported when i connect my drive with eSATA.

The driver reports 1.5Gbps mode and NCQ active.

When i directly connect my drive with plain SATA cable with the mobo the speed reads 3.0Gbps.

The drive is 1.5TB seagate with CCH1 fw.

What could be the problem?

Too long cable??

I have a eSATA bracket on the back of my case that's connected to the mobo.

Meaning i have ~1m total of sata cable to the docking station: ~0.5m from the mobo to the eSATA bracket and ~1m from the bracket to the docking station itself.

Please could somebody say something about this issue.

apparently wiki says that the max length for esata when passive adapters used (like in my case the esata bracket) is 1m

only the cable from the bracket to the docking station is 1m already...

i'll try buying a 0.5m cable and see what happens

As I said in "hidden" thread. make sure that there is not a jumper in the back of the drive - this limits it to 150mbps

Make sure that your motherboard supports sata2 - 300mbps

as i said...

when I connected the drive directly with a plain sata cable from the mobo to the drive the speed read 3.0Gbps

the controller is from intel southbridge ICH7R wich supports sata2

all my other drives are connected at 3.0Gbps

even NCQ works (wich is part of sata2 standard if i'm not mistaken) just at 1.5Gbps when connecting from the docking station

Also naturally there's no jumpers set at the drive that would limit its speed.

_saiko, has your problem finally solved? I am planing to buy the same dock, but the specification does not say anything if it can be used above 1Terra
