i7-950 @ OC + Crossfire 7970 to fit in an R4?

Short question:

i7-950@3,84GHz

and

2x7970@1050MHz/1500MHz

watercooled in my Fractal R4? Any chance? Monsterrad in Front? PushPull with NF-F12s and 240x40mm in Top? Are 480*(40-monster) enough surface?

New to watercooling, nothing ordered yet. Still got just one 7970!

Used a 4890Crossfire some years ago... and aircooled crossfires does not to be possible on an GA-EX58-UD5 due slot arangement (They reached 100°C when put in 16x_1 and 16x_2).
And the 8x Slot in the bottom would be too close to the PSU (my old case got more room)

Depends if you want to run the fans at a lower speed or have them 100% all the time.

Currently:
All the cpu and case fans are regulated by the cpu temperatur
@idle they spin at 450-500rpm (controlled by easytune6)
@idle GPU fans spin at 550RPM (controlled by the gpu bios)

@ FULL load cpu and case are around 800-1100RPM (68°C max)
@ FULL load gpu around 900-1000rpm (65°C max)

for me the most important part is: NOT hearable @idle. That is the case right now. The fans are not hearable and the hdd is in a bitumen box.

the single 7970 is enough for 1920x1200, but @eyefinity the fps drop below 40. when i saw the r9 280x prices and the dropping 7970 prices i thought about crossfire. but if its 300€ (card) + 600€ watercoolingloop (2x gpu, cpu, radiators, pump, res) its a lot of money. dont know if its more intelligent to use my system till even the 1080p power isnt enough any more and then switch cpu, boad, ram and gpu, and maybe case ^^

I wouldnt advise that case for watercooling what you want and then it look nice and not be loud

I am myself thinking about watercooling 2 7990s and a haswell-e CPU in the define XL R2 (big bro of the define R4) and I have a define R4 for my home server.

My plan for my XL R2 was getting rid of the optical bays and mounting a 480 in the front. However that's not going to fit in an R4. If you want a quiet case, you will probably get ok temps with 2x240mm rads or with a 240 and a 360. You might be able to squeeze a 360 in the front if you remove the optical bays, however you will have to measure it beforehand to see if it will fit, I found a 480 that will just (to the millimeter) fit in my XL R2.

However if you want to overclock you are going to need more radiator space than that if you want reasonable temps and a quiet case. Unless you are a crazy person like me who doesn't care about the loudness of fans or the temperatures as long as they don't melt the loop and does not plan on overclocking this is probably not going to be a good setup for you.

I would need at least 1600MHz RAM for this, right? My GA-EX58-UD5 doesnt give me a RAM multiplier to get my 1333MHz :-\ Right now I got 167*8=1336MHz on my 1333RAM and the rig is awesome stable with 23*167 @ 3,84 GHz on the CPU.

Are the 0,160GHz worth to upgrade to 1600RAM?

I build my Customloop next week with an external rad...not because of OC but I like it silent and I love doing new things to my rig Beside the GPU block I am able to reuse the equip next year...

My plan was to use the rig (i7-950 and my single 7970) until end of the year 2014 or beginning of 2015 when the next amd generation gpus and ddr4 are reliable.

So changing my 16Gig 1333MHz to 16Gig 1600MHz is senseless, right? GPU seams to be right now the (gaming) limiting factor of my rig... 6000*1200px on 3*TFT

200x20 works, 200x21 not have to finetune on the weekend
