i7 870 power consumption?

Hi,

So I recently started taking a look into OC'ing my i7 870 with the selectable OC settings my Motherboard (Asrock P55 Extreme 4) and am using the 3.6GHz OC right now.

But I have noticed strange numbers in the CPUID Hardware Monitor, without OC I had about 8W min and ~107W max in desktop use*, now with the CPU @3.6GHz the Hardware Monitor shows me ~12W/72W² what would be less power .. is that a normal behaviour or just an error within the software? I've looked into the board search function but didn't exactly find, what I was looking for.. :-\

*and yes, depending on load it drops down to 1.2 GHz and ~17W
²the Wattage changes with a constant clock speed, though.

I'll attach two screenshots of CPU-Z and HWMonitor and excuse and typos, I'm not a native English speaker.

Overview of my system specs is in the signature.

greetings

.:edit:.
oups, just noticed it might have landed in the wrong overclocking-forum .. if so could a mod move it? thanks in advice :)

Don't get me wrong, I wasn't worried, just curious to this strange behaviour, I mean
more clockspeed + more volt = less wattage!?
on the other hand, I'm just an engineer, I shouldn't know sh*t about electric devices :D

Thanks Tom!

Just say it, your volt is lower then before.

Well, I didn't analyse the screenshots, but right now I see constant 1.280V in CPU-Z - dunno what happened during that screenshot 0o

Might be the software, the sensors.. etc. For example, I haven't yet found a software that would read my +12V correctly or close to the normal 12V value... I get... 5V... 2V... 4V but never 12V. but the bios does...
