Introduction:
Welcome to my review of Corsair Link 4.0, now I'm no stranger to the Link software provided by Corsair. I used Link from v2.0 to v3.0 with my old H100i and must say I did quite like it, while I'm aware that many had a few niggles and general problems with the older iterations like hardware not being recognised or the hue settings for the H100i coolers not working as it should. I'm rather surprised, I had none of those issues back then and it ran flawlessly, so onto what I expect to be a vast improvement on the previous versions.

So lets take a first look at the new interface of Link v4.0.

As you can see it's a huge change! Gone is the dull (sorry Corsair) Grey of old and we have moved onto true glorious HD colour and it's customisable too, but more about that later. The Home interface is bold, clean and bright which grabs your attention right of the bat with all hardware areas laid out into their own respective fields giving you an instant quick look at temperatures and fan speeds.

Customisation:
Moving onto the custom settings and configurations, first thing I noticed in the configuration option was the original tiles system just like the previous versions where you would drag the monitoring data tiles and place them on to an image of your chosen case, thus giving you a visual guide to the hardware being monitored within your own system.

further to the customisation you can now alter the whole UI with settings including the font colour, background accent colour, colour themes, tile sizes and case images, either pre loaded Corsair case designs or simply use an image of your own.

Monitoring and Logging:
Now here's the whole point of this program to accurately monitor your hardware performance, it's all still here, fan speeds, temperatures, voltages and wattage loads, with the added option to record and export all your session data as an Excel document for your perusal later (I love this) kudos to Corsair for implementing this much needed feature.

Here I have recorded Corsair Link 4.0 monitoring the AX860i during a Unigine Valley Run, in both SLI and non SLI.

Conclusion:
My final thoughts on the latest Corsair Link software is pretty much all good only one minor point but I'll get to that, I have only had the chance to run and test the software with PSU monitoring sadly so I can't speak for any AIO, Commander or LED users, what I will say is this, if you have any Corsair iSeries hardware then Link 4.0 is a no brainer! you simply must have it installed. The control and customisation options are monumental, the data logging is epic and for me at least just what I've been waiting for. Just one thing spoils it for me, with the logging information there are no power levels recorded for me to view. Which means if I want to know what the voltage or wattage is at a given time it has to be in real time, if this was recorded within the logging data I would be over the moon and throwing huge White Gold awards all over the place (I kid of cause I'm not allowed).

So to bring this to a close, Corsair Link 4.0... it is as solid as a system monitor can be in my experience, it just requires a tiny polish for it to be 100%

No Power usage within the logging?

9.8/10 Would most definitely recommend.

Nice review I just hope it works for me when they release it as even with this machine of mine having a new install on a new SSD the link software STILL refuses to work on my Windows 10 keeps saying the USB device has malfunctioned or something like that and gives me constant reboot loops

nice writeup. I just tried to install it but it says I still have the old version (I uninstalled that and there's no trace I can see) oh well CBF working it out it's nearly midnight.

Maybe I'll have to remove the USB drivers as well.

@jimma47 yes the driver are the issues please make sure they are manually uninstalled.

Thanks guys, for myself it was a painless install although I had installed Link before fitting the AX860i but on the other hand K1lbane installed it last night onto his running system with no issues.

As Pascal has said though check your USB drivers.

As Wraith said, I installed it last night. Initial issue was that I had a previous version of Link installed. It told me to uninstall, I did, installed 4.0 with no issues.

I would wholly reiterate the point about logging power usage. The old link showed peak power usage, 4.0 does not as far as I can tell. As I use Link for only my PSU, I will probably go back to a previous version to get at least the "peak power" feature.

Other than that one part, massive improvement over UI and general usability. Well done to Corsair on this.

I uninstalled the previous version, including the USB drivers and still can't get past the 'you have an old version installed' message. Any ideas where to look?
What information can I provide to assist?

Use CCleaner and see if it gets rid of any registry files for you also look in C: program files 86 and get rid of any folders in there also remove programs and get rid of corsair link usb dongle driver and link software reboot and try installing again sorry uninstall the programs first then the other stuff

Cheers. Nothing left in X86 and nothing in Add/Remove programs etc for Corsair Link or the USB dongle and Hydro Something (I uninstalled those yesterday) I'll try CCleaner and see what happens.

no worries hope it works

No dice. Ran CCleaner and it removed a lot of broken corsair things and rebooted but still claims I have an old version.

I don't think it would be caused by other programs such as CAM running as they worked fine before. Or do I need to actually unplug the USB headers as well? I have an HX850i plugged in.

Yeah thanks for your help tho. Frustrating as there's no other options aside from 'abort'
I didn't use link a lot as I have an old H100 without the customisation but I liked watching the power usage. I'll stick with CAM for now.
