i7 870 OC

Good news... I ordered the D14 and a few other things... so I'll be ready to give it... something (can't come up with a good word to end the sentence)

The bad news: I should mention this to you guys... some time ago when, before I became a member here, there was a lightning storm. A terrible lightning storm, that fried my PSU and GPU in 1 strike. Sadly it left a mark on my CPU and possibly my RAM and Mobo too
sad.gif
I got the waranty for those 2 because they werent working... but my CPU Mobo and RAM are still working, but when under just a little load it starts to lagg, not like internet lagging but just like a game, video, etc. was running somewhere close to 15fps... (Crysis, Uninine Heaven, Tropics, and so on)but fraps shows 30-60. And when an explosion or like in COD4 when you get an UAV or an airstike or anything else it laggs for like half a second (both the screen and sound)

So Im asking you guys what can I do? I don't have the warranty for the CPU, but I have it for the mobo and ram.

so How can I convince the seller this is broken or not working properly...

For the CPU, I had in mind going for the 875k.

Good that ur getting the d14 an the other noctua fans u have accumulated it should be good.. Don't ways ur moray on the k version I remember tom not liking them very much also as I've said my 950 is an odd fellah at 4ghz mX temp is 54 degreea and min is around 35 to 36 degrees. It's all about luck with the silicon lottery and yes I do have a d14 and and extra noctua sb12 flx as my exhaust fan so that helps plus my case is a silverstone raven which is very good airflow case, want u get the d14 we can start getting to even higher clock (hopefully)

Good good, I can't wait to oc the heck out the 870... but I noticed I can't OC my GPU as much when I increase the CPU clock more and more...

And dude, work on your english

I'm on my iPhone and it's not the easiest thing in the world, my rigs been atriped because so I can't go on it. because I'm currently in the process of getting a 970 because they have dropped dramatically in price llike over 420 dollars in which it's gone down. So I had make drastic decision. But in return I have no money for Watercooling for the current time being. @ with ur overclock do ur games freeze or does ur pc restart?

I' using a safe OC on my GPU for now so they don't freeze or anything (700/1400/1701)... with the oc I had before, well... ither it freezes for 30s and then returns to desktop or the screen goes blank and system restarts (CPU @ 3.8GHz)

When I had 2.93GHz on my CPU I could oc to 850/1700/2000 @ 1.175 easy

ok ok... I'll prime for 3h then, another 3h and we'll see... but I rly want to learn how to do the voltages thing... Really BAD!
biggrin.gif

So I can keep my system stable, and Tom still hasn't told me what volts is he using on his/their 870.

And he will probably not each and every cpu is different his volts will not work with ur cpu you have to find your limitations of your cpu

Ok try this: for 4ghz

200x20

CPU voltage 1.30

CPU PLL 1.8v

Ram voltage should be set at what there rated at just check the sticks

Disable CPU spectrum and also speed step also

Set the dram to 1600 and then the uclk to that of double which is a round the 3200 mark remember it has double the dram no lower well go from there NOTE I'm pretty sure it's not called dram but something similar

BSOD when loading windows... and I can't find uclk in Ai Tweaker?! and there is nothing I can set to 3200 there

Dont be rude mate Im not here JUST to answer your questions you know.

If you dont teach step by step youll just end up overclocking for him and he will learn NOTHING.

I didn't want to be rude

So, I'm still asking, where can I get to learn step by step overclocking?
huh.gif

So I will learn how to work with different setups.

How about that, how did you guys start to learn and really get into it
smile.gif

And what he told me didnt work anyway =/

I am just going to answer this question,

by trial and error its IMHO the best way to learn HOWTO O/C ....

Just keep fiddling with it untill you understand step by step yourself....

its the way i learned it...

I didn't expect it to work tbh it's was just an example to try, I can't explain every detail. The way I learnt is by going on the overclocking section and looked at people who have the same motherboard or cpu as ne and I see what they do and what everyone says. go on google and look up i7 overclocking guide. Note that I don't know if overclocking is different 1156 because I'm from x58 but yeah
