i7-3770k and P8Z77-V LX random shut down under load

Hi all,

I recently helped a friend complete his build and it was behaving fine until today in which it randomly turned off without warning. This was during a gaming sesh. when we put it through 3d mark for testing when we first built it and there were no problems. I'm erring towards psu or bios problems. At the moment i'm not thinking it is a heat issue as temps maxed around 50 for the i7.

The specs are:
i7 3770k (stock cooling, no OC)
P8Z77-V LX
16gb corsair ram
2tb hard drive
600w silerstone psu
vtx 3d radeon hd7870 tahiti
thermaltake case (one fan pull, one fan push)

as usual, any help would be appreciated :)

Yeah since there's only one GPU in that system I'd give it a try
Maybe wait for some more opinions though, not 100% sure

I was thinking about getting him to use furmark to see if it causes is computer to shut off. Is that a good idea?

**UPDATE** just got him to open gpu-z. On idle the 'card is running at 41 and gpu-z can't detect the fan RPM. SOunds suspect doesn't it?

No need to suggest anything else guys :). I fixed it. It turns out that the fan wasn't spinning so I took the card out and put it back in and it now runs great! I guess he must've jogged it or done something as it was working when we built it and stress tested it. ooops. :S

thanks for the help as always :D
