hey i really need some help here because i just built my computer and i have no idea why at the moment but with games after about 2 - 5 minutes my moniter goes into standby and my computer seems inactive, ive tried many things and i am currently trying something at the moment, i have added and extra PSU cause i thought cpu wasnt getting enough juice, ive added extra graphic card cooling, but now im guessing its my CPU temps i idle at around 53 not over clocked, and im folding now and my temps are getting on towrds 59 degrees, i have just put AS5 and im playing to waiting game hoping that when the cpu temps start to go down my game crashing problems will go away, does anyone have any suggestions or has been here, oh and it cant be my ram cause its 1 gig ddr400 ocz

yeh mate well it never used to hapen when i didnt play games but im 90% that its the CPU temps cause i was just folding for sx and i left the computer and cpu temps at 58 degrees c, and i came back and the computer crashed

Under 'Reputation' you can view system specs.

Thanks Austin but I'm not that blind. It does not state specific processor information in that area, therefore, there's know way of knowing what the maximum die temperature for his processor is without knowing what kind of processor he has.

harmonicgen007: the maximum die temperature for a Sempron 2600+ is 90C, therefore your theory is incorrect.

I know you probably already checked this but do you have power saving features enabled, like suspend after 5 minutes?

Right click on a free area on your desktop, click properties, a dialog box will appear entitled Display Properties, choose the Screen Saver tab, there should be a button towards the bottom labeled "power", is anything enabled in there on any of the power schemes?

well if that whats your asking no i dont have anything like that selected, my computer does comppletely crash not just the moniter because the computer is inactive in this time, and also i think it might be the temperature problem because it crashed before when i was folding for sx

go to your startmenu and right click on notepad, a dialog box will appear and where it says shortcut key hit N (or ctrl+N). When your videocard loses signal, hit CTRL+N type "CAN I SEE THIS" and hit "ALT+F" then hit "S", type "C:\test.txt" and hit enter. then reboot your computer and see if the file C:\test exits. If that's the case, your computer works fine, there's some other problem we're not thinking of.

I've read that when people have this problem, changing the videocard/finding the right drivers solved it.

Do you have an extra monitor lying around. Do you have the correct monitor drivers installed? Do you have the proper refresh rate for your monitor selected?

yeh i do have another moniter, i might try that and yeh my refresh rate is fine, and also i went into the game and did exactly what you said and there was no file i could find in C:

doh, i thought it happened when you weren't playing games too (that doesn't work in games). I have a funny feeling it's something to do with your monitor or settings related to your monitor. Can you play the game at the lowest resolution possible with the lowest refresh rate possible?

well i set my refresh rate to 60hz and down to something like 600 by 780 pixles and i didnt even get to play the game as soon as it finished loading up it crashed :(

Try this:

Uninstall you vid card drivers.

Download Driver cleaner here . The startup in safe mode (F8 for advanced options just before windows starts). The open up driver cleaner and clean all the vid drivers for you vid card.

Reboot and re-install the latest updated drivers for you vid card.

Hope this helps! :)
