Hey all I just put a block on my 570 it's OC'ed to 900mhx on core and 1800shader and 2000 on mem, highest temp on load = 43c

Now Im not sure of this happened before, but only when I fold I hear a high pitched noise, what could it be? I'm pretty sure it's the GPU as when I change clocks using msi afterburner the pitch changes in real time.... So it should be GPU.

What could it be?

This IS related to F@H , i don't hear it ..but i am aware that i have this as well on my GTX560Ti's..(also had it on my GTX460's)

capacitor squeal !

It cause to worry?

Nope

Its a known issue , no worries........

Well you should worry if it gets too noisy when Clocking it! Stock 570s are known for exploding mossfets

Just watch your volts and don't push it! With a waterblock you should be safe but just in case, when you're folding, touch the back of the PCB (where the mossfets are) with your finger and if it burns you should lower the volts.

Ouch !

is this only related to the GTX5xx series ?

But as long as the noise come from the "caps" he shouldn't have to worry

For the 580s not so sure, but the 570 has 2 phases less than a 580. ( http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/ASUS/GeForce_GTX_570/images/front.jpg ) EVGA has a 6phase 570 but other brands DON'T. So those 4 phases are dealing with a heavier load than a 6phase 580.

All caps squeal, even my TFIIIPE squeals under 1.15v and it has 100%jap caps. Just when it gets noisy and you can hear it out of your case you should worry if you have a stock PCB.

Best if you check on your own how hot the PCB is and decide yourself.

The GTX 570 1.3GB’s stock 5+1 phases of power have been upgraded to a whopping 8+1 phases too (six for the GPU and two for the memory) < that's what it says for the gainward gtx 570 phantom, google it and have a look at its PCB it's exactly the same as a 580 only less memory.

The PCB isn't hot only the voltage controller is, but that is hot even at stock volts my voltage is 1.075v the pitch of the noise only changes in response to core clock not voltage the higher the clock the higher the pitch. ATM it at 900mhz on the core.

It only makes a noise when folding, no other stress causes noise even OCCT doesn't cause it to make noise.
