I finally did it. 5.0Ghz!! :)

Well I finally hit 5.0Ghz. It was stable long enough for me to screen cap and save then knock the CPU back down to something stable enough to get into windows. For some reason I could never get 5.0Ghz stable long enough to get a proper CPUZ validation file. I was pushing crazy volts right here just to get this. lol! Also done on an H40.

I really think it was the motherboard and not the cooler. Temps were fine at 4.8 but just wasn't where I wanted them to be for 24/7 stable. It would max out at 85C which is where I was comfy for benching and all. But not 24/7. Also this is on Ivy Bridge which makes me just a little more proud since I feel as not many people out there want to test those waters. Especially on and H40 and ASRock Z75 Pro 3. lol

Certainly an achievement, but 1.48v is far to high. As you say, that may be down to the board.

Thanks Seumas. Yea Josh, I didn't have the option of setting a proper Vcore. So I had to use addtional turbo voltage and then set the offset to like 0.50. The turbo stuff was at like .250 or so. lol

I'd love to. Sadly this was a client's computer and he had the Intel Tuning plan and told me to go for whatever clock I wanted to. So I figured i'd try 5.0Ghz. Strange thing is that it stayed there long enough for me to screen cap and everything but wouldn't let me save a validation file. Just kept taking me straight to the net. :/ Also I only use Core2Duo and have a 2700k laying around without a motherboard..

The validation, using CPU-Z, is only through the internet, is it not? I was not aware of any validation files that were saved. When I tried for 5GHz, I told CPU-Z to send me and email, as Chrome was not stable enough to load the page up

Well what I meant was I was not able to save a validation file in order to upload using the Validator. I clicked to save one, but it just took me straight to the online file and i had to smash prnt screen and open paint really fast and paste and save to the desktop then BS. So the only real validation that I hit 5Ghz is the screen cap I took.

Even if Chrome doesn't open, you get a link to the validation page.
