Hi all, i'm very new to forums but needed some help about what to buy. If i have posted in the wrong place and did not post correctly please tell me and i will take it dow becuase i'm not shure and this is my first ever post.

My question is would kingston hyperx 6GB (3x2GB) 2000MHz DDR3 Triple Channel Memory, 3x240-pin DIMM, Non ECC Unbuffered, 9-11-9-27, 1.65v be more siutible for me over mushkin radioactive 6GB (inc triple 2GB modules) DDR3-1600 (PC3-12800) Radioactive memory kit has a latency of 6-8-6-24 and test voltage of 1.65volts

. i am planning to oc a intel i7 930 to 3.8ghz. All relavent information about my pc

intel i7 930

gigabyte x58a ud5

value ram 4gb ram 1333 - (i saved on the ram knowing i would upgrade latter didnt have th money at the time)

if there is anymore information need please inform me.

What i am struggling with is: is better for me to have 2000hrz ram with ralativly high latency or lower 1600hrz ram with lower latancy? I will not overly strees my computer (excluding prim95) but use it very regulary and for all perposes.

thank you all in advace for you help.

I'd take the Kingston and lower the latency to sth like 7-8-7-20.

You can also take the Mushkin and put it up to 2000MHz...

IMHO they're quite equal... Maybe take the cheaper ones? :-)

/edit:

Maybe you can find a comparison between different RAMs including

these two ones?

oh sweet id didnt know you could do that, like i said i am very new to this, the hyperx are cheaper by about $35 australian. would you be able to tell me how i could lower the latency while maintaining a 3.8 -4.2 ghz oc on the 930.

The radioactive will do 2000mhz @ 989-24 so will be faster than the Kingston. Just make sure you follow the points brought up in the redline review we did to change the subtimes and that you have a suitable QPI voltage

sweet yeah i watched that video i have been following you for a while now, so the radioactive, is there any what to get the hyperx to the same latancy beucase it would be cheaper if not then i'll buy the radioactive about $35 buck in it anyway not a big differance

Ive not had a Kingston kit that can match it yet tbh. My money would be spent on Kingston but in all honesty you probably wont notice the difference as a normal user anyways.

oh ok sweet hyperx it is, if there is not differance in porformance the hyperx for two reasons cheaper and blue fits well in my case.

thank you both for your quick and helpfull replies i really appreciate it

There is a difference dude, but Im just saying I doubt you personally would nitice it with anything but benchmarks and the spec list!

yeah no problem i do use my computer for sevral hours a day but no extrems, most stuff is genral with a few editing programs and such but nothing extrem, i have a 4gb lot and know that am losing alot of possible power that i have paid for with my ud5 x58a thats really the only reason for upgrading

What is your current ram and overclock? bclk - multi - ram speed - ram timings - plus tell us your system specs.

no oc yet, tryin to get as much knowlage before hand most of my money went int othis and ocing voides the warranty

ram right now is the kinston value ram ddr3 1333hrz 777-20 2x2gb

When you do get your new ram try to have it so the ram is 10x the speed of the BCLK.

ie you want 200 bclk for 2000mhz

The real overclocking starts here

sweet yeah im gratefull for the help, i will set as that, i'm gonna start my advature to the ocing world in a few days when i get this ram, wish me luck....
