Hello there.

I was thinking to build up my own PC from scratch. But when i started to do it, i`ve got confused. At a very first i saw very good one here , but then i started to think about SSD (128GB) instead of HDD (1 TB), and USB 3.0 port what is this??? New speed up to 5GB, alright sounds good, but if i will have an old flash memory stick, will it use all 5.GB speed?

so Main parts i`d like to:

motherboard??? (i dont need any crossfire, sli functions. I will use HDMI port for my monitor, about RAM - DDR3 ofcourse)

Intel core i5 CPU,

NVIDIA GTS450 1024MB GDDR5 Graphics card (this card is allright for me)

SSD 128GB

How big power supply do i need? i will use standart fan for CPU.

So i have loads of questions onto building my intel core i5 computer...

(is it possible to get into 500 GBP just for System without keyboard, mouse and monitor?)

I think you've got some reading up to do if you don't know what USB 3 is mate

It supports higher speeds but it wont turbocharge old USB devices.

Motherboard: MSI P55A-GD65 is a good board.

CPU: Intel Core i5-760 or Intel Core i7-870 depending on your budget.

GPU: The GTS450 is a decent card but look at the 460's mate.

SSD: I'd go with a 64GB SSD for your OS and some programs and then a Samsung Spinpoint F3 1TB for your storage needs

PSU: 500w would be more than enough for your needs if you're sure you're not going to add another GPU and if you're not going to apply massive overclocks to your system. Look at Corsair PSUs

You do know you also need memory right?

Look at Mushkin memory. Be sure to buy DDR3 else it won't work with your board.

Then be very careful. Confusion leads to costly mistakes.

Yeah that doesn't seem too bad really. Using a 128gb SSD is a bad idea over a 1tb. You will run out of space fast. The trick unless you fart £10 notes is to have an SSD and a large storage device.

I would get that and a 60gb SSD (Sandforce controller) and have done. Install Windows on the SSD, use the 1tb as a backup drive and leave it there. That PC you have linked to is actually a good bargain and the case looks half decent too. You'd be hard pushed to build it yourself for that. Good quality motherboard, good quality GPU (Gainward are very good, esp the GS series and you can add another at a later date). The only area of concern for me would be the ram as it doesn't specify what type it is (speed yes, brand no) but then if you're not going to overclock it that's a moot point any way.

For a bit browsing online shop SCAN.co.uk I made some kind of system:

£21.63 - Case I'm a bit affraid of PSU 450W is it enough?

£50.71 - Corsair DDR3 2x2GB RAM ok mushkin (especially enhanced)is a kickass but too expensive for me atm

£100.52 - Motherboard

£91.18 - SSD how about sata cable do i need to buy it separate?

£9.04 - CPU Cooler

£139.94 - Intel core i5 CPU

£91.00 - NVIDIA GTS 450 i was looking on GTX460 i`d like to buy it in future

£70.46 - HDD

ToTal: 584 GBP

Or maybe just to buy linked one and add some SSD, i think thats a bit smarter though.

You don't need to buy sata cables seperate because some should come with your motherboard. Also you will not need to buy a cpu cooler. The boxed one (comes with "boxed" Intel CPU's) will be just fine for your needs.

I can't say anything about the case, because I don't know anything about that case. However, I would look at getting a Corsair power supply (around 500W would be fine) since for a 22 pound case + power supply combo you can't expect a good power supply.

Dont get a case with built in PSU mate they're usually utter poo. You do NOT want to cheap out on your PSU!
