Huge Problem, please help!

Ok, i posted on here a few months back explaining to you that i had a problem with my GTS250 graphics card, that the computer couldnt detect it and so would use the onboard card instead. After RMAing the card, i got a refund, and finally bought a new GTX460 1GB Gigabyte card. Same problem again, my motherboard still cant see it.

I wouldnt mind so much, but im not exactly loaded, so the parts i have (a 939 3800+ mobo and CPU with 2GB of ram overclocked) cant exactly be replaced without spending 100's of pounds getting a a new mobo, cpu and ram.

Does anyone have any ideas? Im at a loss here, ive just spent £140 on the card, and hate to think it was to keep my computer at the same gaming potential as it was without one.

Make sure the BIOS is set to use the first PCI-e slot as first boot adapter. A lot of times it's labeled as "Init first display."

What's your mobo model? Latest BIOS? Have you checked the manual?

i have the 939N68PV-GLAN motherboard, by Asrock, im about to re-update the bios to make sure its already the newest one, and i dont have the manual with me. Also, its already set for PCi Express Standard output, it still insists on using the onboard VGA and DVI.

Just updated it (again) and still nothing, even when its set for PCI express as the primary graphics adapter, it runs on the onboard.

You might have a broken PCI express slot. Your card is getting power though right and you got your 6 pin plugged into it?

Yeah, its got the 2 6 pins plugged in, and the duel fans spin, it even spins up before slowing down the fans like its loading the bios.

the reason I ask is I've had occasions when switching from vga to dvi has caused the screen to lose the signal. used the monitors auto detect to fix.

Ive tried both, both the VGA and DVI work on the onboard(it has both) but neither work on the graphics card(using an adapter for the VGA)

It sounds to me like the mobo is dieing, cause my audio has gone down now, and im experiencing suddern crashes :S Again, problem is, i cant aford to upgrade to a AM3 or i3, my computer is easily 8 years old with upgrades (ive upgraded the HDD, PSU, GC, optical and cooling since getting it, ive even hit the limit for my RAM capacity)

The PSU has recently been upgraded(under a year old) it a modular Coolermaster 620W. More than enough to handle the single card, i would be using the 6 pin adapters otherwise(which i dont agree with XD)

Ive decided to try and get £100 together and get a AM3 duel core 3.0Ghz CPU with motherboard and 2GB of DDr3 ram off dabs.com as an offer. Its not a massive upgrade, but it will allow me to upgrade the CPU, RAM and motherboard slowly, instead of it being obsolete and needing to replace everything.
