Huawei has been cut-off from US Chipmakers and the Android OS

I think the Trump being elected by the poor in the country is abit of a myth, while he still had a strong vote share in every demographic, his best performance was in the $50k-100k income band and his worst by some margin was in the <$50k income band. https://ropercenter.cornell.edu/how-groups-voted-2016

He's a republican so wealthier people will vote for him due to them being the American equivalent of the Tories. My ex MIL who I hated voted for Bush even though he was about to go to war to protect herself.

Which is about spot on really. Everyone will vote for whoever suits their personal circumstances better. Unless of course you lie and say you're going to make America the same as it was with new factories etc.

well looks like Huawei has gained a temporary license to continue to operator for 90days. Hopefully they can resolve everything during this time.

Why do you assume there's no evidence? Because the media says so? It's been going on since 2012 this battle with the US and This company in question. China is a dictatorship. They can take data without asking. Smartphone companies collect data. It doesn't take much to see the point here. We also don't need to prove anything. We have National Security and if they deem it not safe to provide details then they won't. As for not looking stupid the US doesn't care. No offense but Americans never gave a damn about how we look to others. Call us whatever you like, doesn't change anything. We put America first or at least mostly. It went down under the previous administration but Trump is changing that. And thank God for it. We have enough issues.

As for Alien, your opinion is based off the fact you despise Trump. The vast majority of the country and it's not even close disagree with you. You are calling us mostly uneducated and you don't live here and aren't seeing his results. You're just being fed information from the media.

Besides it boils down to the so called 2nd largest smartphone company in the world has virtually 0 presence in the US. This new thing changes nothing. Blowing everything out of porportion doesn't make a case.

Spot on with that comment. Im a culprit of this too.

Only he totally isn't.

As I mentioned before, I lived there for 9 years. I think that is long enough to get the basic gist of how the country is, how the people are and what goes on.

Am I there now? no, no I'm not. However, my buddy lives there and is very much American. Actually scrap the buddy part, he is more like a brother to me. I speak to him every single day without fail, and I have seen what he's going through thanks to Trump pulling Obamacare. And he is almost fortunate and lives in the prettiest state I saw all the time I lived there (MD). I've also seen what his sister, his family and of course all of the friends I made whilst out there (my Facebook is 90% Americans). So I don't need educating on any of it I'm perfectly aware of how it is.

I also lived in several states, including but not limited to Ohio which was a real eye opener. My long time programming friend told me once "Stay away from the states that begin with a vowel!". I thought he was kidding me. Turns out that when I moved to Ohio he was dead right. It was full of illiterate rednecks who couldn't read or write properly because the education out there for them was awful. So were their living conditions, with most of them living in trailers. They also had less teeth than I do, which I thought was quite the feat given I've had about half of mine removed, but it turns out that when a tooth hurts out there on welfare they don't even try and repair it (because that costs money) they just pull the buggers out.

I don't need schooling on American culture, thanks. There's a reason why they have that saying "The other side of the tracks" and believe me whilst I was out there I lived on both so I saw exactly how it works.

I don't like Trump because I think he's an arrogant smarmy d***head. What sort of president goes on Twitter and has an argument with the leaders of Iran? I mean really, are you serious? That's OK though, because he threatened to punish them with all of his might

China is a dictatorship. They can take data without asking.

Terrible, isn't it? how does it feel now the shoe is on the other foot? next thing you know they'll be going around blowing people up and policing the world.

You living here means nothing. America in the 90s doesn't have an effect on now

You can pull our whatever life experience you want. You always do. Fact is 80%+ of the country voted for Trump(https://brilliantmaps.com/2016-county-election-map/). Because he stands for American people. I don't give a rats butt about your friends or Obamacare. That was going to get demolished by either Trump or the supreme court. Complain about Trump and blame him. It was inevitable. It was a failing system.

Say whatever you want, but America is thriving. Yeah he says dumb stuff over Twitter. Who gives a damn? A public threat means he's being serious. Any big thing that goes on over Twitter he backs up. Iran should heed the warning. Move against the US which they are doing, feel the might of modern technology against their ageing military.

Outside of twitter, as I said earlier. Americans disagree with you and your outside view is incorrect. Trump puts the people first and he's not letting China steal our data. Good. On top of that Huawei has little presence in the US, so it's not a big deal. However, Google has restricted them. Good! Stopped supporting them. Support the US people. That's the point and one I can get behind.

Fact is 90% of the country voted for Trump.

This is a bit ironic given Trump actually got fewer votes than Clinton(Though ofc your system of democracy means not all those votes are equal as with many systems). Also kinda ironic that "Obamacare" was originally a republican policy, until Obama voiced support for it lol. The level of tribalism is abit insane.

I edited the previous post with a link. Just to clarify.

But yes most of America voted for him. The fact the other candidate got more votes just shows WHY we need the electoral college. The fact a small portion of the US has that much sway is the reason the popular vote isn't used. All the liberals live in big cities. They should not dictate the election.

90s? Sort of. 99-08.

Had Obama got in before I'd left I'd possibly still be there. It hasn't changed that much. The reason so many people voted for him was because he's a salesman. He sold the idealogy that he would make America great again and bring back loads of manufacturing, factories plants and jobs. So far none of it has come to pass.

You can get annoyed at China all you like but the fact is we created it. Greedy businessmen sending all of their manufacturing out there and India and selling their own people out to get rich quick. Nothing can stop it now really it's too late.

The world will soon be ran by China and India and that's just how it is.

We created that monster by selling our countries down the river for a buck or two.

Does both this Iran situation and this Huawei situation not reek of entitlement? "We're allowed nuclear power stations for cheap energy but if you do it and we don't like you we might have to bomb you for peace", "We get to build thousands of weapons capable of causing an apocalypse but if someone else has some some depleted uranium around then we might have to wipe you off the map to maintain stability", "We get to spy on the world and foreign populations via private companies for decades but we'll flip our poo now someone else might be able to".

America spent their whole time as a superpower attempting to police the world, creating military bases in most of the worlds nations, meddling in other nations elections, assassinating other nations political leaders & members, all when they didn't agree with another nations ideology, manipulating populations through propaganda, and creating the largest "information agencies" in the world, is it any surprise that new superpowers that will likely supersede America over the next decade are behaving in the same way?

Don't tell an American that. They're so buried in denial they don't even understand simple facts anymore.

I was going to mention puppet regimes for cheap oil but apparently I don't have any idea how it really is.

One thing about the internet is it's given Americans a glance into what the world thinks of them.

Wow, feeling the love here. I'm just going to grab my maga hat, waddle my 450-pound fast-food-loving-toothless self into a dark hole, stick my fingers in my ears and say nah-nah-nah-nah until you all go away. It's pretty amazing that a country almost the size of the whole of Europe has people that are cookie-cutter copies of one another from coast to coast.

I did point out that it was full of nice people. One doesn't live somewhere he hates. However it is what it is. You've got form. However nowhere have I said the UK is innocent. We got form too, far more than you do.

I just call things as they are. Nothing I've said is in any way untrue. America is a funny place with each state differing greatly. However you can't deny what's going on. It's covered in gigantic sores (Flint Michigan who deliberately poisoned their own people because it made financial sense) or Detroit, or New Orleans etc. People just choose to ignore all if that stuff.

When you fund most of the world, you can say whatever you like. Until then you really are just using stereotypes. Which is ironic...

America is becoming less so over the past decade though. Which is unforunate. Socialism, Political Correctness, idiocy are becoming more relevant now more than ever before. Though the right side has changed far less than the other. So we got that going for us Maga hat wearers :D

The older I get the more I realize we're all pretty much the same no matter where we live. Most people are selfish. Some happen to be a little evil too. Unfortunately, it's usually the crooks that have the motivation to get into positions of power. That allows things like the Flint water crisis or the situation in Detroit to happen.

I honestly only skim American politics now. You can't trust any headlines and half the time the news is so skewed you're not sure what to believe. It's like a bad reality TV show, but with mostly unattractive characters. 99% of it is arguing which keeps most things at a stand-still. When policies finally do get passed, the other side works to tear it all down.

Agreed entirely, applies to all of us! You just redeemed Murica. Now if you could do something about that NBD troll.... :D

It's honestly bizarre when Americans see as their country as altruistic. When in reality the world politics have left plenty of countries in ruins, simply to secure access to natural resources, which US is spending at a disproportionate rate compared to its population.
Inside its borders the "f*ck you i've got mine" mentality is prevalent and as a result public services like education and health care have suffered immensely. Now the middle class is diminishing, lower classes are voting against itself because apparently Mexicans and other more tanned people are the source of all problems, and the wealthy reap the benefits.

Yup we all bleed the same and we all cry the same.

I think what I loved about the USA was the flag waving and love for the place which they didn't allow to be pushed out by being politically correct and I do respect that.

Believe it or not my will leaves everything I own to an American simply because of the impact he's made on my life

We don't see ourselves as that. We have a lot of internal problems and our politics are more focused on giving money away than keeping it inside our borders to fund our issues. That's the issue we have. Yes mexico is apart of the problem. Our border is a mess and I live near it. I would know. Is it the people of mexico that we dislike? No. It's just the border is chaos. So much illegal activity goes on. Most of the illegal drugs, guns, (not most but a good portion)bad people, come from our Southern Border. So it boils down to locking down the border until we get it under control. It's not racism. I see why you think so as an outsider being fed misinformation. I promise its nothing to do with racism if you believe so. It's hard to control whats within when there is no way to stop the flooding of outside influences.

Our Northern border is totally fine with Canada. Why? Canada doesn't bring in drugs or illegal guns. No problem! Our Sourthern border just isn't like that.

Why would people smuggle guns from Mexico when you can legally buy them over counter no questions asked?

Also, I didn't pinpoint racism. It's about populism and lack of education.
