How to apply Coollaboratory to die?

Whats the best way to apply Coollaboratory on my delided 3770k? Like on the CPU die.

You need a razorblade to get off the IHS which I wouldn't trust myself doing on a £250 chip...

I already took off the IHS.

Just put a small dot of it on top of the die and reseat the IHS.

I heard that spreading it is better.

A line or a dot is enough/the best. Id go with a line since the cpu die is rectangular. What happpens when you spread it is its not the same height everywhere and air bubbles will occur.

Yeh - spreading it is never better. Ocasionally with larger cpus such as 2011, you may need to do a cross or something, but you'll be fine with a very thin line down the centre of the thing.
