How shall I configure my hard drives this go-around?

Ok yall, need a bit of help deciding what to do once I get my new board in and my computer is back up again.

I'm quite partial to RAID 0 for the performance boost, but the potential loss of data sucks, like what recently happened. And also the fact that using the onboard RAID controller varies by mobo and chipset so I won't always be able to switch mobo's without losing my array.

I currently have 2 x 320gb PRT Barracuda's and 1 x 160gb Deskstar. The question is, should I RAID the Barracud's again and leave the Desktar as a seperate driver, or should I just leave all of the drives seperate and just live without RAID?

In the future I plan to dump all of my current drives and pick up a SCSI RAID adapter and get 2 or 3 150gb 15k Cheetas but that's way off in the future.

Thx in advance for the setup suggestions.

I leave the single drive as primary for the OS (RAID 0 can be a pita if it's data you need) and have RAID 0 for some speedy gaming

Yar. I would probably do that if I hadn't broken the friggin SATA power connector off of my 160gb drive :( I keep thinking about replacing it because it peeves me to have to power the stupid thing via molex.

All things being equal, I`d go with this tbh.

1 x 640g raid 0 Frag .. u put all u`r eggs in one basket on that ? games/storage/music etc ?

Yeah with that much combined single partition space it's hard not to store stuff on their that I don't want to lose. I can afford to lose game data and such because I can just reinstall that. I have a 300gb external drive that I store all of my uber important stuff too that I can not lose. And then I have a small USB powered 100gb FireLite drive that I store all of my music on so that I can take it with me.

I dunno what to do!
