How quiet and cool is watercooling?

I have a corsair H100i but might sell my rig and build a new one. I was thinking of a custom loop, but would it be quieter or any cooler because I thought that the pumps are really loud?

However quiet or cool you want to make it...

Pumps can be perfectly quiet. D5 running at a low speed should be near silent.

Then it's just the fans that make the noise. Up to you whether you want to go for low rad area, high fan speeds, or high rad area, low fan speeds. Or a mix of the two.

Tbh - looking at your rig, I'm not sure why you'd build a new one.
It's still completely up to date. only change would be for 2011, which I wouldn't really bother doing at this stage, and more / different GPU. Not too sure why you'd need to rebuild the entire system for either of those tbh.

If you have a 2x120mm skinny rad with a high fpi (fins per inch) and whack some delta fans on it then your watercooling will be noisy.

If you instead use a 60mm thick 3x120mm rad and a 60mm thick 2x120mm rad, both with good low-rpm fans your watercooling will be quiet.

It's down to the user, basically.

A good answer, tailor your purchases to your needs.

Find the fan that pushes air quietly and buy the rads that perform best at that RPM.

what would be best to cool i7 3770k and and 7950 dcuii top, and also Im looking for silence, but not if the performance is alot more? I was thinking a 360 rad or 2x 240 rads

What case do you have? A single 360 would be fine, providing it's thick - 60mm, or close to.
Then if you ran semi-decent fans at 7v, you should keep it all quiet, and temps shouldn't be too much of an issue as long as you don't go crazy on the overclocks.

If you really want silence with good temps, maybe a 360+240mm, with fans running very slowly would be better? But that is a little overkill on the rads tbh.

Well I haven't got the build yet. I want the corsair 650d, I've currently got a switch 810 which has a h100i in it, but i want a smaller one plus i'm gettin a micro atx, if i get the 650d i dunno what rads to put where, i know a 240 in the top and i'll try and put a 120 at the bottom, i would have another 240 at the front but i dunno if u can.

You could get a 240mm in the roof, and a 200mm in the front. That will be enough.

Not sure why you'd change from a Switch to a 650D though...
They aren't that different in size.

Why would you put a mATX in a 650D though?

because i want a smaller case, i already have a switch 810 build so want a 650d they just look nice

and im gettin the asus maximus v gene

Why would you do that?
mATX boards are for mATX cases. Putting a mATX board in an ATX case looks stupid.

And there's not a massive difference in size between the Switch and the 650D?

As others have mentioned the noise levels are what you make of them when doign custom loops.

I have dual D5 pumps in a dual d5 EK pump top and I cannot hear them mounted in the bottom of my 800D.

I then went seriously overboard with the radiator and mounted externally a HX-1080 radiator with Noctua fans hooked up to a controller. At idle system is pretty damn quiet, under super heavy loads with the Noctua fans at max it is still pretty quiet compared to a lot of machines.

Previously I was messing around with 3x TK-123 fans on a 3.120 rad and the noise was absolutely unbearable, but temps were good.

This thread is a bit confusing, is the rig in your signature your actual rig? If so, honestly just add a loop to it. I don't see the point in selling your rig (which is very up to date) for less than you bought it for and then downgrading. The 650D isn't exactly the best for watercooling, and the Switch is one of the best. Also, my first rig was a mATX mobo in a quite small mid tower, and it still looked silly.
