Yesterday when i picked up my win7 i saw the Antec six hundred and imo i think it looks very cool, but i just wanted to know how good are Antec cases in general? Might pickup one of theese forr my next build

haha wrong place to ask this as Tom isnt a fan of them.

They are cheap and cheerful but I wouldnt use one if cable management is important as there isnt any on most Antec cases ive seen

Upon further research i found out that this case is really bad

But what about Antec in general?

I used the Antec 900 once and it was pretty bad, literally no cable management and realllllly loud fans. I think that antec cases are pretty cheap for the most part.

same here. terrible build quality, sharp edges all over the place, no cablemanagement, noisy fans. not buying one ever again.

I had an Anted P190 for three years and it was dead quiet , but building a rig inside it was a pain to say the least. An ATX motherboard just about fit into it and connecting cables around the edges of the motherboard was a pure nightmare. Also as everybody else said the fans are loud in their cases. I also had an Antec 900 and it wasnt bad , but I wouldnt buy another one , because its loud as hell.

Actually have to disagree a little bit here. I own 5 Antec cases.

I have the original Antec P180, which at the time was very innovative and was the only thing that came close to a quiet pc case in its day. Without that case you wouldn't have the Fractal R3.

I have the Antec 900, & have to agree the cable management was rubbish - but its cooling performance was brilliant. Just needed to get the hole saw out to sort out the cable management. But then at the time CM had the stacker and the cable management on that was rubbish as well.

I have the Antec Fusion & Micro Fusion - both are well thought out HTPC cases - even if the lcds are complete crap.

And my first ever proper case was an Antec Aria which was cramped and not the best gaming case - but with the right components was a nice little sff case.

All in all I have had a reasonable experience with Antec cases. They are interesting and innovative with pretty good build quality. What really lets them down is that they don't go the whole hog with their cases. They are generally very good but there is always some glaring omission that lets them down - shame really....

Antec cases were meant to be affordable, with a few 'enthusiast' exception. They are made out of VERY cheap material 'mostly plastic' and are not put together very well (reason i think they created the Lanboy

). If you can get a nicer case, Antec is a starter case. Look at Coolermaster, Silverstone, Lian li, Corsair, and some NZXT cases.

I'm using the P183 and it's good, solid, simple and clean, good for general needs. For a microATX case I'd like the P180, it's beautiful

Both are in the Performance One range, caost around £90, I've seen online retailers special offer sell P180 around £60. I think they live up to their name. Go cheaper then I guess it becomes tackier. For a solid chassis I think these have the basic needs well optimised. There's a mistake or 2 to be found against modern needs. Overall Performance One series very good.

Here's a link to them: http://www.antec.com/Believe_it/product.php?Family=ODI=

I've had an Antec 300 for a while. I actually think it looks nicer than anything reviewed on this site.

...but beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
