Homebuilt desk, deskchair and race seat

So cool that there is a section for this kinda stuff on this forum. I love it here already.

Ok so on with it. I have a very awkward room under the roof of the house. Problem most of the time is to find something that fits. so I've built my own desk. It's currently being redone to fit the triple monitor setup and still have to find time to finish it. The pics of the desk are somewhat outdated but when I get around and finish it there will be pics of that too.

So this was the old setup

It was built from scratch using MDF board and metal Tubing

The desk is now only semi-finished it has already a triple monitor bracket that I made mounted to it. The thing that still needs to be done is to rework the shelving area where the PC sits. It has to be lowered so that the screens clear the top of my case.

Deskchair was a bucket seat out of an old 74 Chevrolet Chevelle. that I mounted to a rotating base and welded some legs onto. It's not adjustable. But that's ok because It's custom made to fit me. And ofcourse the lovely pukegreen upholstery got changed by a profesional company to a black fake-leather. Real leather costed about the double but it's actually very good fake stuff.

I had another one lying around. So when I got gran turismo 5 the idea of building a Race seat quickly sprung into my mind.

It has a totaly awesome buttkicker on it. I'm not allowed to use it anymore bacause my parents think it will knock the ceiling off on the room below mine

The seat on it is the one from the deskchair. Swapped them for the pictures.

Will update when there's progress

Very cool setup and nice handy work. Wish I could work with metal like that.

Btw, what is a buttkicker?

Looks good for a DIY job, it looks just as good as the ones made for sale that I have seen anyway.

That is so cool, I must get a race seat - they're just so freakin' expensive - and sadly I don't have the skills to build one myself.

Thank you. It's what keeps me busy in my spare time next to the other hobbies

About the butkicker in short it's a sub woofer without sound only vibrations. Quite powerfull vibrations i must add.

Found this on youtube for a more in depth explanation

Minor Update:

I've cut and lowered the shelving area. One thing, I messed somewhere up and took the wrong measurements.

I'm just a couple of centimeters shy of getting the case between the shelf and the left monitor. So Yeah botched a temporary thing together out of tobacco boxes and the shelf that I removed. So at least my case is off the ground.

That's the disadvantage of getting all my work done in a different location. Didn't drag everything out there so I couldn't double check before starting to cut things up.

This how things are now

This is temporary. I know the cable management is a mess. Didn't bother because I'll have to tear it all apart again soon. Also still have to swap the the puke green seat for the reupholstered one.

One thing I still don't know is what I will do with the 2 cutouts where the monitor stands used to be in my previous setup. Kinda don't feel like repainthing the thing. Had alot of problems with the paint first time around.

I've moved the desk to another location in my room, wasn't able to fit the triple monitor setup under the sloping roof. Really needs some posters too I gues.

About my f*** up with the shelving, I just bougth a Shinobi XL so even if I did get it right the first time still had to change it again because the case is considerably taller. So in the end it's not that a big deal.

Updates will follow, I usually take my time with these things

The current rig. For now. HERE
