Hitman 2 and Fallout 76 experience weak physical launch sales

lets not forget that these 2 games are essentially the same game as previously released but on new maps, Oh and half baked multiplayer added to FO.
I don't know about hitman too much as all has been quiet and I guess the whole episodic release of the last one is what has put me off but I don't hear much in the way of FO76 being a game of the year contender (LOL @ FN winning =00=).

I wouldn't know what this means, but I have noticed interest in Fallout and Hitman dying down over the last year or so. A lot of people were very unhappy with Fallout 4, and Hitman is arguably on its last legs. I thought they were even going to stop making them after Absolution came out.

I was annoyed with FO4. Paid the full steam premium to get a poorly designed game which I had to hackmod for widescreen suppport, and also not able to experience over 60fps without bugs showing...

I'm done with the franchise.

That seems to be shared by A LOT of people. There's so many deep analysis videos on YouTube by established gamers (people with 10k+ subs) who give fair and rational criticism. I mean, you're not always going to make the game everyone wants, but it feels like Fallout 4 got a lot wrong, not just a few elements, and Fallout 76 isn't starting well particularly either.

You have it?

HELL no. I was tempted to get the power armor edition just for the big helmet, but I passed. Online FO doesn't interest me. I've watched quite a few hours of streamers playing it, and it's awful, truly awful. And I wasn't one of the FO4 haters even. I WANTED to like it, but I can't.

One streamer/Yt put it as FO4 with all the NPC's and fun parts removed

That's basically it. They removed all the story elements, all the NPC's (well human ones anyway), added a weak survival mechanism, and an online store selling cosmetic crap. It seems very people have ANY idea who this game is targeted towards. It's not aimed at typical FO players, since most of us are single player people. It's not aimed at the hardcore survival crowd, since the survival element is weak sauce and badly implemented. It's not aimed at the Fortnight / PUBG crowd, since PVP isn't the point, and you get punished for killing other players. The target audience for this is a total mystery.

your comment is a bit "biased or extreme" for someone who doesn't have it. Thats why I wondered.

But I do agree with you to some extent. excluding the turd part :P

I've been feeling ill lately, so I've been putting my feet up and watching more hours of FO76 streaming than I'm willing to admit. :p I must have watched over 24 hours between Oxhorn, Juicehead, and some of the other more open-minded streamers, so I didn't jump into the hate club straight away. :D I *tried* to be open-minded and give it a fair chance, but it's a bad game. Not only bad, but even more bug-riddled than usual for Bethesda, and that's a serious statement. If they clean it up over the next 6 months, and private servers become a thing, then I may pick it up. But definitely not right now.

Yeah, to be honest, I don't think you need to 'own' a game to have an opinion, even a strong one, any more. Streams give you so much detail because you can actually interact with the gamer, ask questions etc, and you can see their hands moving and what it does on screen. Rather than what it used to be before streaming when all you could see was the game being played on YouTube, sometimes with a commentary, sometimes without. Even then, if you own a game, how long do you have to play it to say whether you like it or not?

I'm waiting too. Ever since I found out it was online I've been apprehensive. I haven't followed the development of the game at all since I found out that private servers and mods would be coming after launch. I figure when those go live I'll look at the game with a fresh, untainted perspective and go from there.

Overall though I can't help but feel sad about Bethesda these days. The first game I ever played that completely resonated with me was Morrowind. There were plenty of fun games before that, but Morrowind was the first time I felt a game was built with the same direction that I'd want to build a game in.

These days the games are a shadow of what Morrowind promised for the future. Throwing the formula at Fallout was a great move, and each game has been fun, but achieved less and less of its potential. I'm sad to say that I now live in a world where the latest Fallout game has released, The Elder Scrolls VI has been announced and I just don't care. I'm more excited for Cyberpunk 2077.

Yeah once Bethesda confirmed that their next several titles (ES6, FO5, and Starfield) will ALL use their severely outdated Creation engine, it's hard to get excited. They just don't seem to learn, they don't listen to their fanbase, and they let modders fix their games in ways that they can't seem to implement themselves for some reason. I wonder if they'll ever learn how to make a proper UI!

Fallout 76 is ace! Not going to sugar coat it, it's not what most think it is or what whining cry baby youtubers who only played the BETA claim either. If you're a fan of the Fallout franchise you won't be disappointed it is what it is, you emerge from the Vault just like everyone else new to a fresh world. If you don't want to engage other players that's cool, you don't have too you can then go about your business exploring and solving mysteries as a lone player.

The new multiplayer system is pretty sweet IMHO so dive in be a little sociable make a few friends hell get some friends involved and team up. It "HAS" to be played to be believed, there was way too much negativity before launch which I feel has hurt the sales. It has its tiny bugs but they are way too small to be put off playing it.

We're all enjoying it and it's highly addictive especially in a group, come join us and we'll nuke something together.

I am probably the biggest Fallout freak on this board d'you know what? I couldn't give a single F.

At the end of the day this is a Fallout game (so expect stuck rad roaches and floating things) and just be in the know it will get fixed. This is Bethesda/Zenimax, probably the richest most successful publisher in our time and they will sort it out.

As for FO4? look, it was crap at launch. You can't get around it, it really was a mess. However now? it's quite sensational. The horrible Nvidia stuff *does* make it look better if you have the GPU for it* and at 4k it looks lovely. It really is a very different game to what launched, but they got it there eventually.

* I have seen people dump £1500 into a GPU just to run benchmarks, so not having the cash is no excuse. I'm quite poor as things go, but I saved and invested in a nice big GPU. It paid off. I can max the game out (even the stupid god rays) and have more than enough guts in the tank.

Yes it sucks, but there is nothing you can do. Just wait 'til you get the all clear, then buy it for £20.

I am going into this £175 down (nothing considering the last fully fledged game I bought was FO4!) and with 0 expectations or 0 f***s.

Remember - no expectations no disappoints. Life really is as simple as that. Go into it expecting the worst, you will come out the other side very happy.

I tried to watch videos like, for example, "FO76 sucks!" and then spent 13 minutes watching some twunt whining about a flag that appears and disappears as you move around it. FFS, has he never played a Fallout game before?

I'll still pass, but thanks. :) Multiplayer Fallout is something that does not interest me in the least. I'll wait for FO5, buggy engine be damned. No single player, no care for this guy. Especially if I have to mute the damn thing since there's no push-to-talk for some unfathomable reason. :p

Just wait until it works. Hell, I'll even give you the thumbs up.

If you are waiting for FO5? you are going to be one of those joke skeletons that says "I waited for (insert thing here)".

It will be a decade or more.

What I want is private servers, and I want those now. If we can get one? simples, just all jump on an OC3D server (I will even set it up, given I have a Haswell based desktop now).

Private servers could entice me to buy this, IF they fix the NUMEROUS bugs. Otherwise, I will happily continue enjoying my first survival play in FO4, modded of course. REALLY enjoying that ATM!

I wonder if it will ever be possible to build a private server strictly for yourself. Sure, it shoots the entire purpose of a multiplayer game in the face, but I'd probably give it a go. :p
