High end build ssd questions, Which would be best?

Okay i am building a computer here pretty soon and i would like to know some pointers and help. I am looking at two

I dont know if i should go for the raid 0 or the single OCZ V3... I read that Raid 0 doesnt have trim support?

I would like to know what trim is exactly and if i should go with the OCZ V3 120gb or the two 64s in raid 0. Would there be a noticeable difference? Because the V3 Runs at a 550 Write speed...

Any help would be appreciated thank you.

TRIM cleans up areas of the drive that aren't in use, so when you delete something it'll completely wipe that area of data not just remove it so it can'y be seen in the OS, thereby improving performance over time and helping to keep the SSD clean.

Yes you lose that in RAID, but some drives come with their own form of TRIM usually called garbage collection that will continue to work in RAID.

I don't know which drive you should choose, I was going to ask a similar question in a few months.

But hopefully that clears up what you needed to know about TRIM and RAID for an SSD.

You lose TRIM when 2 drives are in RAID 0 but as Tom mentions in one of his vids the garbage collection is pretty good on some drives.

look its basically pretty simple Garbage collection is Trim for raid most if not all drives have GC most have implemented firmware updates that have improved or add it. Now its not exactly the same but end results are the same. GC requires idle time to implement its functions where trim is basically automatic when you delete stuff.

now back to the origional question you will see better overall performance with ssd's (or any drives) in raid as it can write and read from multiple drives at once instead of a single drive.

I believe Dougdiamond set up SSD in Raid-0 on his rig if I am not mistaken, Maybe he can let you know after it runs a while how well it keeps its speed.
